Rafael Soriano signs with nationals

National have loads of talent.

I see it being between them and the Dodgers for NL champs in 2013.

14 million per season with a vesting option for a 3rd year...oh, well...thought that the Tigers' brass might figure out some way to acquire him, especially if he and his agent Boras were willing to halve their demand for a 4 year contract, but if signing Soriano was to adversely affect the Tigers brass' ability to soon negotiate and eventually sign Verlander and perhaps Scherzer to extensions, then it would be a good thing that they passed on him.

That posted, Washington's pitching staff looks very formidable on paper, and IF Soriano can remain healthy and pitch near his worth in saves while assuming their closer duties, then the Nats might gradually work Tyler Clippard into the role while likely using him mainly in setup...unlike the Tigers, who are apparently going to count on an as yet untested rookie in Bruce Rondon, while otherwise appearing to have a team that is being built to win it all now. So are the Nats, who have become nearly bone dry in blue-chip prospects who are within a couple of years of potentially reaching the bigs. But of course in the Tigers' case, there still are a few veteran closer options remaining on the FA RP market, such as Brian Wilson, Jon Rauch, Kyle Farnsworth ((snicker)) and uhh..Jose Valverde..:hehe:
