The Indians are quietly getting good.

They might come in 2nd. Just looked at their lineup after signing bourn, and its not too shabby.
Bourn
Stubbs
Santana
Kipnis
Swisher.
Cabrera
Reynolds
Chisenhall
Brantley

And their roatation is league average. They might even sneak away with a wildcard.

I have already heard that Stubbs is the odd man out in their OF. Their offense is okay but their starting pitching is no good.

Their rotation has potential with masterson bauer and ubaldo, also daiske just signed with him and he has proven to be talented before.

reminder please, threads for teams/players other than Tigers should be put on the mlb general message board.

Don't forget they lost Choo so the Swisher signing is irrelevant since they have identical numbers

they might sniff .500, but nothing more. their pitching staff is awful and imo that offense is going to be overrated.

Cleveland Indians Now Biggest Threat to Detroit Tigers in AL Central.
from mcb-tb

.500 team, couple games over. no spectacular players, just solid, .270/.280 ish.
lots of people talk about santana the catcher, somewhat over-rated imo.
couple of #3 starters, rookie with upside, and not much else.
bourn helps the outfield defense. 4 years of swisher might get a year or 2 worth the contract,
just seems they are trying to at least get to middle ground, and the new tv $$'s gives them opportunity to get good and maybe above average players in FA without breaking the bank.

Cleveland's attendance @ Progressive Field has been relatively poor recently, and even while the ballclub was still in contention last season. Remains to been seen if the influx of new players along with a successful and well known manager in Francona will cause a noticeable if not a significant boost in Tribe fans' attendance next season, especially/even if the Indians were to field what soon becomes a very competitive team. When a ballclub makes many changes to their roster during the offseason, ala the Blue Jays, it becomes more difficult to gauge and predict how more improved they might become if at all, and sometimes, like the '08 Tigers team, end up being much worse than what most had predicted or expected.

They may be good but I have laughed at half the players they have signed. They could be called the over the hill gang. They signed Dice k to a minor league deal. They over paid for Bourn. The Rayburn signing says it all. And how many years are people going to say Ubaldo has potential. He had one good half season in his career and the Indians gave up way to much and he hasnt pitched well at all.

Saw some K stats flashed the other night while watching MLB network indicating that Bourn Stubbs Swisher and Reynolds all high on the list for K's thought to myself... excellent, Tribe loading up their lineup with some K bats for Tigers starting staff to feast on this year.

Nice time to bump the thread:
Tigers: 27-19
Indians: 27-20
Season series: 3-2 tigers.

Ill have to remember to bump it again in a few months when they're several games below .500 and wallowing in 3rd or 4th place.
