"Great sized quarterback who is very strong and physically ready for the college game. Has a good arm and is capable of making any throw he would be asked to make at the college level. Very mobile, athletic and capable of making plays with his feet. Still needs to continue to add consistency. Want to see him continue to develop his touch passes too. Tough, smart, hard working kid with a lot of the desired intangible qualities. - Allen Trieu"

Great size, and has run a 4.68 (I know, most high school forty times are BS), but he's a good pickup and has been dazzling in camps. We offered 4 QBs. Michael O'Conner was the top QB on our board, but he wasn't deciding until June, he said we led for him, but it's 1st come 1st serve. Durkin was reportedly thought of nearly as highly as O'Conner by our staff, he's a better athlete, but O'Conner was a better pure passer. Caleb Henderson was 3rd on our board and he's a border line 5 star, high 4 star. Deshone Kizer was in the mix too.

Good start to the 14' class with 3 guys that our staff had rated at or near the top of their want lists at their positions in Deon Drake, Byron Bullough, and now Durkin.

Brian Allen, the #2 Center in the country and brother of Jack Allen, and Dariean Watkins (wr) could be the next 2 recruits.

Another Bullough? That's kinda cool that State has a legacy like that.

Everyone in that family says that Byron is easily the best athlete of all. He's fast and plays safety at 210 lbs, but he'll likely be a LB in college.

Almost makes me want to pull for the kid, given that we share the same first name.

Wow, saw some pics of this kid on one of those recruiting services. He is a freaking bull. 6'4 235 and looks thicker than that. AND, he is only a junior in HS.

should be allowed to forgo his senior yr of HS....MSU needs him to start next year lol.

I saw that Durkin was talking with Wisconsin the other day. Made it sound like he wasn't solid on his commitment. Here we go.

Enoch Smith Jr come on down, 4 star DT chooses us over ND. Nice!

Not always, he takes a 5 star LB and moves him to FB and TE before putting him at DT.

I thought dantonio only took 2 and 3 stars and coached them up into 6 stars

Nope, he coaches them to the NFL. You can ask 2 star Le'veon Bell about that this year and 2 star Darqueze Dennard next year. Oh, you can also ask our 3 star guys that have gone to the NFL under Dantonio, ( Adams, Martin, Worthy, Cousins, Cunningham, Jones, A.White, B.White ) might have missed a few, but im sure you get the point.

That's what happens when you're the coach of a powerhouse

The class is coming together nicely. Vayante Copeland is our latest CB committ, he's a 4 star on the only site that evaluated him a a DB, has good size at 6-1, 199 lbs and runs a 4.47. He was the #1 CB on our board. Chris Frey has gotten the 4 star bump after dazzling at some camps. Next commit should be CB Jalen Watts-Jackson, to say he blew our coaches away at this weekend's camp is an understatement. He was dominant and the forty time he ran was so fast the MSU staff decided to keep it hush hush, but low 4.3 is rumored.

7 of the 9 current commits are 4 star recruits on at least one service. We're very close to flipping 4 star DT Craig Evans from Wisconsin. All in all I expect this to be one of Dantonio's highest rated classes. Of course a always well get some overlooked guys that have great careers at MSU. Really recruiting Illinois better than ever, expect at least 5 kids in this class to be from Illinois.

CB Jalen Watts-Jackson commits today. He was the best corner we evaluated at the recent camps. Showed excellent hips and closed on the ball, and his 40 time was the fastest of any DB we've evaluated this off season. Kid compares favorably to Darqueze Denard at this stage.

Gerald Owens committed today. 4 Star RB at 6-1, 245 lbs. #80 overall player in the country and #8 RB. Plan A recruit.

David Beedle too. Killed it at the SMSB camp last weekend and was named the #2 overall performer there. His performance earned him an offer. He's a player on the rise and smoked a mess of 4 star O linemen at camps.

This is going to be a very good class.
