Some(what) interesting take-aways from the first week:

Josh Hamilton is batting an "eye-bleeding" .050 for his new ballclub, the LA Angels of Anaheim, he has produced just one measly hit in 20 ABs, his slashline is .050/.208/.050 w/a .258 OPS. However he had managed to K in half of his at bats, so he wasn't likely being cheated out of his swings...haha!! He had walked 3 times, and his lone hit (a single) was valuable, since it was with RISP, and he knocked in two runs with it...:hehe:

His teammate Albert Pujols, is also having a fairly rough start to the season again, he has put up a sub-Mendoza BA of merely .188, in 16 ABs...but w/a .391 OBP and a .625 SLG, for an OPS of 1.016. poo-holes has also walked 6x and he has hit two homers, unlike Hamilton and the '12 WAR/AL ROY-winning...

Mike Trout, ESPN's '12 boy-toy, (and '13??) who is hitting a rather pedestrian (for him) .292 in 24 ABs, w/a .320 OBP, and a .417 SLG, for a .737 OPS. He also has yet to steal a base, but already has 2 triples and 3 doubles.

The languishing Lastros won their Opening Day game, but have yet to win a game since, losing their last 5 games. Every team in MLB has won at least one game, but the pathetic Pirates, miserable Marlins, punchless Padres, and bumbling Brewers in the NL also are 1-5 and are in last place or tied for last in their respective divisions.

The biggest surprises so far, are the Rockies and Diamondbacks being 5-1 and are tied for first place in the NL West, the Mets @ 4-2 and tied for second in the NL East, the Twins (meh..) being 4-2 and tied for first with the White Sox (ugh!!) and to a slightly lesser degree, the Red Sox @ 4-2, and in first in the AL East.

Biggest disappointments so far (to their fans, anyway) are the Blue Jays and Yankees @ 2-4 and tied for last place in the AL East, the LA Angels @ 2-4 and in fourth place in the AL West, the Brewers @ 1-5 and tied for last in the NL Central with the Pirates (the latter not being very surprising) The Tigers, Cardinals, and Giants, all recently World Series participants or champs @ 3-3 might be considered slightly disappointing.

Some of the more impressive feats by individual players would be the rump-ranger SP "whirlin' darvish's" near perfecto, and the O's Chris Davis' four homers in four games to start the season, tying the record. In the NL, the Dodger Kershaw's two consecutive SHOs and hitting what was the game-winning solo homer in the first game. The Braves' Justin Upton hit 5 homers in 6 games also.

ESPN, as well as some other sports reporting websites, will likely come out with the first week's "power rankings", and I suspect that the Tigers will be ranked somewhere within the middle of the pack, maybe between#13 and #18.

ESPN, of course, being the (north) east-coast-biased entity that they are, will likely rank Bahstan somewhere within the top 10, and the Yanks also in the middle like Detroit. The Mets @ 4-2 might get a higher rank as well, maybe in the low teens.
