Verlander is going for win No. 21 tonight, and trying to win his 9th straight start. Also had a seven-game win streak 5/29-6/30.
Verlander is also starting his 13th game against an American League Central opponent tonight, having gone 11-1 with a 2.62 ERA vs. ALC.
Verlander is the first Tigers pitcher to have two win streaks of 7 or more in a season since Denny McLain's Cy Young and MVP season in '68.
Magglio is hitting 15-for-29 (.517) lifetime vs. Danks.
Carlos is 7 for 16 but sits.
When Inge takes the field today, he'll pass Tom Brookens for the third-most games played for the Tigers at 3B.

It would be so awesome if Magglio goes on a hot streak, I think it's still possible.

And honestly, at this point I would rather have Ramon at 2b then Guillen/Raburn.

Ramon has earned the job at 2nd, plus he can hit from the right side.

I agree Ramon does deserve it,and what a lineup it would be to add another bat to the lineup if Maggs continues to hit.

I agree....Maybe Magglio got out the Black and Decker and corked his bat...

Jim Leyland said on the radio show that Jeff Francour told them he had the same injury as Boesch, and recommended a device from a hospital in Manhattan that he used and allowed him to play pain free until he could have surgery.

Leyland said that Kevin Rand is in the process of getting the device now, and they hope it will allow Boesch to swing a pain free bat.

So, maybe a positive came out of the KC series?

All right I am so jacked up for this game.... Pretty hot and Muggy maybe we can get Verlander a big lead tonight..

That is great news, and would be beneficial for the team to get his bat back in the lineup.

Verlander 1st inning,

pierre fastball strike call, changeup ground foul, grounder to Inge,

cubanpopgun fastball outside, fly to shallow center and Jackson has it,

konerko first pitch hit to Young takes a step back and comes in and has it,

Verlander with 6 pitches.

Pretty nice today since after the last 2 starts JV had high pitch counts early.

Well...that wasn't what I was hoping for out of Magglio.

Ajax continues his nice little streak. Would be nice to get JV an early lead.
