From ESPN: Detroit Pistons guard Brandon Jennings will miss at least the start of the regular season because of an impacted wisdom tooth and a hairline fracture at the base of it.

The team announced Tuesday that Jennings will be re-evaluated after a three-week immobilization period. Detroit opens the regular season on Oct. 30 against Washington.

Jennings signed a three-year, $24 million contract with the Pistons in the offseason after joining the team in a sign-and-trade deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Jennings is the second member of the Detroit backcourt to go down in the preseason, joining Rodney Stuckey, who is out three to four weeks with an injured thumb.

Jennings, 24, averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 assists in 80 games with the Bucks last season.

I was kind of glad Stuckey got hurt because it made the rotation easier (and fit better). Billups and Pope off the ball made sense since both could shoot. Jennings going down too it going to be dicey. That probably makes KCP the starting two and Billups the starting PG, with Singler the backup SG. I don't mind Singler in the backup spot, he played it last year at an acceptable level. But Billups or Bynum as our starting PGs is a little scary. Billups is a shell of his former self and never managed to stay healthy in LA. Bynum still can't shoot and is a scoring guard - not an ideal fit in a lineup with better scorers everywhere.

I could see the team running a lot of sets through Smith-Monroe as the primary setup men. Smith is a great passer but can get caught up looking for his own bad shot. Monroe we know can start the offense, but still needs to be able to draw a defender out of the paint to work well.

This sucks but at least it isn't a hand, foot, etc. That way when he returns it won't be a lingering issue in terms of physical performance.

I wonder if it's a impacted molar or if he just got his jaw smashed by the game at the club lmao.
