Detroit Wrestling

Good read KC...I knew that George was from Detroit, but didn't realize the same was true for Killer, although Killer was a bit before my time. Both big name wrestlers and probably deserved a mention...

Elrod, actually Kowalski was from Windsor Ontario, moved to Hamtramck, Mi. and Detroit.
Whem pop was in Detroit/Highland Park, he used to see him wrestle first as a good guy under the name of Tarzan Kowalski. After the infamous knee drop on Yukon Eric's ear that fell off, he was pegged as a villian and the moniker of Killer.

One of the guys here awhile back said he had George The Animal Steele as his high school coach either football or wrestling, I forget who said it, and something to the effect that when they realized that George wrestled during summer vacations w/ his green tongue the whole team put the green dye on their tongues. George didn't say anything about it.

Ahhh...I see. Well Windsor's right there anyway, eh? You know the other thing that I picked up from the article? Pops, when I was a kid, always referred to the pro wrestling I watched as "big time wrestling." It appears to me now that he was using what was locally televised in Michigan "Big Time Wrestling" like some people refer to every cola flavored soft drink as "Coke." Pretty pointless observation to everyone but me, but I feel a little more complete now.
