If I remember correctly, that's more due to the fact that the Arabic alphabet has different letters than the western latin alphabet.

Same thing happens with translations from languages that use Cyrillic... they have more and different letters, and there's no standardized way to represent certain letters. Like in Russian, "George" can be spelled "Джордж" or "Георг."
