River Rouge makes its first state-finals appearance after coming up with the defensive stop of the semifinals, stopping Ida on a two-point conversion attempt in a 28-26 win. River Rouge's lone loss came against Pontiac Notre Dame Prep. Grand Rapids West Catholic had no problem beating Lansing Catholic Central, 42-13, in its semifinal. West Catholic began the season 1-2 with losses to Jackson Lumen Christi and Grand Rapids Forest Hills Eastern. West Catholic is the two-time defending state champion, but the two teams have never played.

Carly Myers Defensive linemen for WC is a preferred walk-on for Michigan next season.
