They kid was really starting to play well too... Here is the article fromMLIve. Sucks for Chris but oh well its the Red Wings... Next guy up...LOL
ASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Detroit Red Wings forward Chris Conner is expected to be out for two weeks with a hand injury, general manager Ken Holland said today.
Holland said Conner has a slight fracture, sustained in Tuesday's 4-1 win at Pittsburgh. He will be placed on short-term injured reserve.
The Red Wings recalled forward Tomas Tatar from the Grand Rapids Griffins for precautionary reasons. Holland said another player, whom he would not identify, has a minor injury and might not be able to play tonight at Nashville (8 p.m., Fox Sports Net Detroit).
If that player can't play, Tatar will be in the lineup. If that player can play, Tatar will rejoin the Griffins in Cleveland.
"We got a player (other than Conner) that just got hurt the other day,'' Holland said. "We think he can play (tonight). If he can't play, we got to have a player here (as insurance). That player felt better yesterday, we'll see how he feels at the skate (today).''
Holland didn't have any details on Conner's injury. He saw a hand specialist.
Conner has recorded a point in each of the past three games (goal, two assists), playing on a line with Danny Cleary and Darren Helm. Conner has provided good energy during his six games with the Red Wings, supplanting Cory Emmerton in the lineup.
Holland said Emmerton will play tonight.
