The wiki page has lots of citations and information that I did not bother to verify. However, one thing in that quote stands out. "...associates of Bill Clinton and Al Gore."

"Associates" does not mean that either of them had anything to do with what was going on. They may very well have and the article may go on to prove it, but I'm too lazy to check. If it doesn't, you can hardly condemn a person for what an associate does.

Consider a lawyer in a firm funneling money from the firm. Consider his associate who has no idea of the larceny and no part in it (or perhaps even an unwitting part in it). Can you blame the associate for the crime?

In any case, you're probably right and they were involved. All of American politics are corrupted, both Democrats and Republicans, and even Independents.

my theory is..

Bill Clinton was elected Governor of Arkansas with the help from Sam Walton (Owner of Walmart), once he was elected he passed bills (Highway construction) to help out Mr Walton distribute his products to the stores.seeing that Clinton was able to help him if he was elected President, Walton then helped Clinton reach that goal of being president, shortly there after Clinton continued to get Nafta passed in order to payback Walton.once NAFTA was passed Walton sent a lot of his business to Mexico in order to get cheaper labor. as time passed Walton a shrewed business man told his suppliers that they would have to lower their prices in order to sell them into Walmart, so many of his suppliers were forced to now move to China thanks to Nafta and eventually WTO. Clinton then received campaign contributions from China leaders, in which was illegal and many were found to be guilty of the charge(look up Chinagate ). and in Clintons early days his wife Hillary was on the board of directers at Walmart, not only was she on the BOD at Walmart, she worked for a private Law office in which Walmart used as their legal Representative. I don't think neither Clinton or Walton had in mind that it would eventually cripple the U.S. by doing this, but once they started having company's move out of the U.S. other companies got the same idea about cheap labor and moved as well.

The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the WTO have paved the way for Wal-Mart to become the world's largest corporation. These agreements have enabled Wal-Mart to enter and dominate markets with its stores and for it to use those suppliers most willing to pick up, close shop, and scour the planet for the cheapest places to make products.
