About two decades ago, traffic signals in the metro-Detroit area became computer-synchronized, using cameras to gauge traffic flow and would "allegedly" make it so it would flow smoother with less backups and jams. Well it seems to me to be a massive failure in every way. No matter whether traffic is heavy, medium, or light, or what direction that I am traveling, I am always stopped by nearly every single traffic light, no matter what speed that I am traveling at, even when close to the posted speed limits!!
What a HUGE waste of energy, especially when we are supposedly past peak oil, and gasoline has become much more expensive. Even when I am traveling down the same street, without turning left or right onto another!! I can travel down 14 mile road, from Gratiot Avenue on the east side, to Woodward Avenue on the west side, and it is a certainty that I will be stopped for 90% of the traffic lights that are located in-between those roads. What a FUCKING JOKE!! There are times that I wish that I could personally throttle the ass-clowns who programmed and timed these goddamned traffic lights!!
Grrr!!
