Howdy,

My IP was tagged as clicking too many ad which would cause problems between the site and google. I've have no idea what's causing it. If the issue doesn't go away, I might disappear again. If anyone has any clues as to what I can do, I'm all ears. My virus stuff is up to date and full scans show nothing.

sounds like you're infected with a bot or something.

How did you find out your IP was tagged?

That what the email from the admin said, that they were getting lots of clicks from my IP.

they are wondering why you want to meet mature singles so badly.

Try running NoScript for Firefox, or chrome has a no script addon too.

Oddly enough my Ads are all from MGM/Mandalay casino resorts in Vegas, because I guess like 2 weeks ago I was looking up prices and airfare.

I'm having the same issue, I scanned my system and found something called adware.agent, I cleaned it off, nothing else is showing up now but Admin still hasn't lifted my ban. Have to jump through proxy hoops just to get here, it's real pain and not ideal. Not sure if that is what was causing it or not, if it wasn't then I have no clue what is going on. I am not excessively clicking on ads.

I don't think I have ever clicked on an ad. I might have but can't recall clicking on one. I haven't got the email but I get random popups now(never happened before) and sometimes when I search for something on Yahoo or Google and then click on the link it takes me to some random site. I am hoping that it isn't a virus or at least it isn't a virus from clicking on something here.

What you are describing does not sound good at all. I would highly recommend you download and run malwarebytes (free) do full scan, if it finds stuff clean it out, reboot then do another full scan until it no longer finds anything. http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

Important tip about Malwarebytes (or any adware removal tool)....When you Run a scan, and fix selected problems, reboot, and scan again right away.

Some problems cannot be completely fixed without a reboot, and the programs don't always inform you.

i also recommend avast. ive never gotten a single virus or anything while using it.

Your bowser has been hi-jacked. Download and run "HiJack This!" Then paste the log at the following link, or at another site that will look at it and tell you what you need to do to fix it.

It's not from anything here, we don't have virii or adware.

This could be a larger issue. When Monster created this site in August it was so we could get away from ESPN and have a website we could all go and have more control and a nice environment.

And I remember, and I'm paraphrasing here, when You first posted Admin it was about we can be on our own and wouldn't have to worry about anything or anybody.

This ad thing is a bad idea and even a worse idea that someone can get banned automatically. I thought we'd control what happens here, not some outside force.

And if people leave, no one wins. Just my two sense.

There's no outside force at all. I'm the one that created the software as a safety measure, to prevent users (members or guests) from abusing the ad system.

Ads are an essential part of the 'net anymore. It takes a lot of time and money to run an active website, and ads help with the costs and keep the site free for the members. If someone is abusing that which in turn can make us lose advertisers, then the site won't even exist anymore anyway.

It's really not a big deal. Whatever happened is a very rare occurance (and extreme case), and if someone is banned for a few hours, or a day at most before I can talk to them and remove the ban (if warranted), I don't see it being a huge deal. We have to protect ourselves...it's what's best for the community.

By the way, if this happened on the previous forum enough, they would just delete the entire forum without warning. Happens all the time. ;)

Maybe the software should inform you and then you can find out but if people are getting banned because of malware, its a bad idea. When people here say they don't click often, I tend to believe them.

And when someone says they may leave, its not what I call "not a huge deal".

The software does inform me when it starts to see a trend of over-clicking. That's when I PM the person. If it continues and continues at a crazy rate, then it bans automatically as a precaution.

I have the logs, and the ads were clicked, a lot, from the IP in question. That's a fact. And it has nothing to do with malware...malware doesn't click ads. And even if that were true, it's not up to me to police everyone's computers and take care of them for them. The user does have to take some responsibility for their machine.

I haven't seen anyone say they were leaving because of it, and I would think that they'd truly understand why it was done, and that it's in the best interest of the forum to protect against that. If not, then I guess they don't really care about the forum and keeping it free for everyone.

Did Slick get banned for clicking?

I noticed he has not been around in a month...

Those damn Russian hooker ads...
