he was sotra right... We did disappear after the bulls took over but he did forget about how we blasted him and his team in 2004...

He's talking about going all the way back to the late 80s and the early freakin' 90s?

Not the exact words but after the game last night a reporter was asking him if his team need to make some big changes and Kobe interrupted him and said we are not going to disappear like the pistons did after the Bulls took over the east... Again he said it a tad different.... I will try and find the clip..

I didnt really take any exception to what he said. He wasnt wrong the pistons of the 80's fought to win championships with two other great teams in the 80s. They won back to back 89 and 90 then were old and got passed by the great jordans bulls teams who owned the 90's. They disappeared by the early to mid 90's. Its hard to fault him for saying it.

I guess Kobe left out 2004.. Maybe it is a terrible memory... The way he said it was a rip at the Detroit organization.... Not untrue because we did fade for many years after the 89 and 90 championship but the Piston's did have a nice resurgence after that...Just a odd thing to say after his team was just blasted in round 2...In my opinion.

Talk about taking a comment out of context.

Kobe was asked about the "history" of the NBA where younger teams struggle to beat, but then finally do beat an older, more experienced team --- OKC vs LA

He was asked if he thought his Lakers were now on that side of the story, that the Thunder had finally gotten past them ---

Kobe, in a very defensive manner, basically said, "you mean like how the Bulls finally beat the Pistons and the Pistons disappeared after that ...nah, we ain't going out like that."

Well, what he said was true.

Would it have been any different had he said, "you mean like how the Pistons finally beat the Celtics and Bird/Parrish/McHale Celtics disappeared after that." ....?

Although a great basketball player and a rapist, he is only 33yrs old so the MJ Bulls finally getting over on the Dumars Pistons is likely a very vivid childhood memory and an example he might recall.

Lakers dont have upper mgmt that would waste top 5 draft picks on frikken darko....theyll be fine.

Not to mention that the same thing would have been true, had Kobe said it about how the Pistons finally beat the Showtime Lakers...

He is going to go out like that. If Kobe still thinks he needs to shoot the ball 30 times per game they will continue to get bounced early in the playoffs.
