Doesn't look like the Twins ballclub plans on becoming very competitive much less contenders in the ALCD anytime soon, and who will replace Span in the leadoff spot in their lineup and patrol in CF? They must think pretty highly of the Nats minor league SP Meyer to trade for him straight up...hmm.

On another unrelated note the Pirates have signed the now ex-Yankee FA Russell Martin, outbidding the Yankees by ~3-4M for two years...so...perhaps the Yankees plan on going hard after the White Sox FA catcher AJ Pierzynski instead? That would put the White Sox in a bind to replace him as their starting catcher next season, if the Yankees were to sign him. Tyler Flowers?

So far we are really the only AL team outside of the Jays that has made a positive addition. Every other team in the AL is probably going to be losing a key player off their 2012 team.

I certainly would take Alex Meyer over Span.

I don't know what the stats are rebbiv but he seemed to kill the Tigers. Not so much last year.
