Still think that it is possible that both the Yankees and the Red Sox might be challenged by the Rays, Blue Jays (and O's if they are for real) and the teams could both wind up 4th and 5th in the AL East, of course that could change with some trades and more FA signings by both during the remainder of the off-season.
James Loney, who was part of the big trade between the Red Sox and the Dodgers in a payroll dump by the former has apparently signed with the Rays, so obviously they will need to play Napoli @1B, although he was said to prefer playing catcher and wasn't really thrilled about playing @ 1B.

The Yankees look especially more vulnerable due to losing Martin and perhaps Swisher, plus both Jeter and ARod may not be healthy enough to start the regular season and could be out for perhaps a couple months. Arod reportedly has a torn muscle in his left hip:

"One of the trainers said that with Rodriguez's type of injury – a torn labrum and femoral ace-tabular impingement, which grinds the bone and cartilage in the hip socket – he won't feel good for a while. While the return-to-play protocol is around six months, athletes don't play pain-free until at earliest the 10-month mark. In other words: Alex Rodriguez, designated hitter is likelier than Alex Rodriguez, third baseman. "
