"Former All-Star closer Ugueth Urbina has been released unexpectedly from a Venezuelan prison after serving more than 5? years for attempted murder."

"Urbina, 38, was given a 14-year sentence in March 2007 after being accused of attacking and injuring workers with machetes and pouring gasoline on them at his family's ranch in October 2005."

"The prison officially stated that Urbina was released this past Saturday for good behavior."

I doubt that Ugie has pitched very much over the past 5.5 years while incarcerated, but still, he might have "caught" quite often. :hehe: @ age 38, and given the circumstances resulting in his imprisonment, it is extremely unlikely that he would stand any chance of getting an invitation to return to professional baseball by being offered a minor-league contract from any MLB ballclub.

I'm surprised there is no thread started by durtymrclean with the title "How about Ugueth Urbina?"

That was one of the better trades DD did dumping him on the Phils.
