8-8

vs. Jets W
Offense comes out humming and gives hope to the season. Jets rookie QB looks like a rookie and lions get a double digit win.

@ SF L
Battle of the two highest cap hits in the league occurs. Jimmy comes through late and gives the 49ers a win in their home opener.

vs NE L
Brady and Belichick makes it a point to embarrass Patrica and his new team, nobody knows why, but Patriots pour it on and win with ease.

@ Dal W
Zeke runs all over the Lions, Stafford throws all over the Dallas. Final drive comes up short for Cowboys as obvious defensive PI is not called on Lawson. Detroit wins.

vs GB L
AR picks on the Lions defense. Three 100 performers in the receiving game lead to a lions loss.

@ Miami W
Patrica feels comfortable going up against the Dolphins. A Lions RB goes for 165 yards ending their no 100 yard streak, breaking the mark in the 1st half.

vs Sea L
Lions feeling good, lay an egg. Lose a low scoring game in which neither team has a defense. real head scratcher.

@ MN L
Defense just too good, offense just good enough. Vikings win

@ Chi W
Bears are the lions of the 2000s. cupcake.

vs Car L
We make newton look like an All-pro. Offense makes late rally, but isn't enough.

Vs Chic W
Bears are the lions of the 2000s. cupcake.

vs LA L
Rams run and pass all over us. Suh plays angry, we contemplate pulling Stafford for his own safety after being down big in the 4th.

@ AZ W
David Johnson gets his, nobody else does anything for Cardinals. Lions win.

@ Bills W
Bills may be the worst team in the league.

vs MN L
Close game, but just can't get in the endzone.

@ GB L
Green Bay needs the win. Lions are mathematically eliminated. Lions lose 52-45

7-9 Final record

9-7, This is our year to just miss the playoffs and pick in the late teens!

9-7 overall, 3-5 at home, 6-2 on the road, 2-4 in the division

Stafford hits his usual 4k yards, Kerryon breaks 1k yards, Tate and Jones each get 1k yards. Offense will carry the teams to wins, defense will prevent us from a playoff spot. Somehow Cooter is still considered good since Stafford bails the team out over and over. 2019 draft and free agency will be defensively heavy.

I'm not so sure. Every year it's the same thing and every year it's working on the running game, offensive line. I thought with a D-minded HC this would be the year but nope.

Quinn must still think he has Brady. And that's all he needs.

New York Jets.........Llions win 38-16. No more sandbagging offense in preseason JBC. You better have some decent offensive Cohesiveness. Espically in the red zone. Please no more settling for field Goals.
====================
@ San Francisco.....I am not buying the Qb hype yet from jimmy . Matt and his defense of no names other then Slay befuddle the kid a bit. Lions win a barn burner 27-22.
====================
New England . Plays at home verses Houston , and then are at Jacksonville before the Lions. If they lose at Jacksonville we probably are getting blown out but some how I see us keeping it close . Heck the patriots have fucking 0 wide receivers. If patriots start 2-0 we may have a shot. New England 37 Lions 22 if they lose to jags. Much closer if they start 2-0. Man i get this feeling the patriots offense is going to be bad with their wide out problems. Can’t pick against Tom. I mean we are the Lions sadly.
====================
@ Dallas
Cowboys are a mess. Matt goes off in his home town or state or whatever it is and Patrica gets in the refs faces, and lions grind out a win on the ground in the 4th quarter with Blount, Johnson attack . lions win 28-17.
=========================
Vs Green Bay
I feel we must win these games at home if we want any chance of the playoffs. Will Aaron’s collarbone hold up .Lions win 21-20 on late robo foot 55 hard dart to win!!
======================
@ Miami
Lions win 27 to 13. ground and pound baby. Play action and hit a deep one !
=======================
Seattle
Seahawks last stand under slimy Carroll. We owe them one ref !
Lions win 31 to 14.
====================
@ Minnesota.
Vikings defense is to tough , and the have a really good qb now so they win at home in a tight game 19-16.
=====================
@ Chicago
The Bears are better but I feel we need to sweep them to make playoffs.
Lions 30 bears 18.
======================
Carolina
Tough one here for the lions. But Matt has a fourth quarter miracle and lions come from behind and beat the Panthers at the gun 31-28.
======================
Chicago . We have to sweep this team . Hate that both games are so close.
Lions Pour it on . 42-17.
=======================
Los Angeles . Third game in a row at home and to make the playoffs the lions must win at least two of the three games. So lions must beat either the panthers or rams .
Lions lose as rams defense is to tough.
Rams 28 lions 22.
=======================
@ Arizona
Lions are the better team in my opinion and win 27-14.
=======================
@ Buffalo
Lions are the better team in my opinion and win in cold weather 17-13.
=======================
Minnesota .
Dang it these last two games are so tough . Vikings are to good. Fuck I hate the Vikings more then any NFL team ..sadly Minnesota wins 20-15. Lions get five field goals.
======================
@ Green Bay .
If Aaron is starting the lions get rolled pretty easy. No way do the lions win two cold weather games on the road at bills and packers . Aaron plays lions lose 35-17. .
==========

So that has them at 11-5 in Matt’s first season . Man that is SO Optimistic with the schedule The lions have which is so freaking tough and Matt delivers a playoff win and a super bowl appearance in his first season as coach ! Statues are built in front of Ford field! Hey is it me or did Matt gain a lot of weight?

Unfortunately I predicted 10-6 or better last season i think.. The good old Honolulu Blue and silver Kool-Aid being drunk here !!!!!! One year all the buttons have to turn up LIONS!!!!

I am sure I will be bitching as soon as I see the same old crap from JBC and Stafford. Only way this record is possible is if the offense goes bonkers this year, and a bend but don't break Lions scoring defense helps out a tad.
Matt has about 3 to 6 more really good years left. The time is now. Fuck every other NFL team.. Especially the
Vikings, Packers, and Bears. Then Cowboys..

Decided not to pick Ws or Ls by game...instead:

First quarter of the season: 2-2 or 1-3. Most likely win vs Jets, most likely loss vs Pats.

Second quarter: 2-2 or 1-3. Most likely win @Phins, most likely loss @Vikes.

Third quarter: 2-2 or 1-3. Most likely win vs Bears, most likely loss vs Rams.

Fourth quarter: 3-1 or 2-2. Most likely win @Bills, most likely loss @Pack.

Best case scenario 9-7 to @ worst 5-11.

With Mack going to Chicago, I change mine to 8-8, we no longer sweep them.

Rogers, Cousins, and Stafford just got butterfly stomachs...Ragnow and the Lions' Oline are gonna have their work cut out for them vs the Vikes, Bears and Rams likely top 5 Ds 5x this season, not to mention the Hawks. For being a former DCO, Patty's D gave up 30 or more points in 3 out of 4 preseason games, while his O scored only half of that in the same amount of games, mostly during late game garbage time.

Bears may have to top last season's DPOY Aaron Donald's 6 year, $$135M contract (esp in years and/or guaranteed $$$) that he just signed with the Rams, in addition to giving up two consecutive first rounders and whatever else that the Raiders wanted for Mack. They might be borking their cap future like the Lions and Phins had with Suh, but even moreso by giving up those picks. Rams may also have trouble keeping their young studly QB Goff when he is up for a new contract, with all of the $$$ that they have been shelling out recently to 4 players as well....and they now have Suh to deal with as well.

vs. Jets W - Darnold starts getting hyped after looking good, but ultimately it's just our bad D.
@ SF L - Our O stalls inexplicably
vs NE L
@ Dal L
vs GB L - Rodgers throws for 400 yards
@ Miami W
vs Sea L - Russell out duels Matty, wins on a big run in the 4th against no pressure.
@ MN L
@ Chic L - Mack causes us to wonder if Decker's rookie year is a mirage and if he'll never be the same.
vs Car W - D comes up big at home, making fans wonder if we are seeing a turning point.
Vs Chic W
vs LA L
@ AZ L- Cardinals are generally strong at home, our offense turns the ball over for a loss.
@ Bills W
vs MN L
@ GB W - GB rests their starters after their seeding is locked in. We pull out what ends up being a meaningless win that drops us 4 places in the draft.

Offense - Ends up top 7 overall, with surprising contributions on the ground. K. Johnson and Ragnow both end up top 5 for ORoY. Golladay has a mini breakout and becomes out primary (only?) red zone threat.

Defense - Ends up bottom 5. Slay is great, but the secondary gets burned when Quin loses a step to age and nobody steps up behind Slay. Davis and Tabor start getting serious "bust" consideration. The best players in the front seven end up being old guys and Ansah again has a high sack total that drastically overestimates his production.

That works out to 8-8, though I'll be more surprised if some of these Ls turn into Ws than the other way around. Don't think the Lions will hold up well in divisional games. Unfortunately I see any competent offense having their way with the Lions, though luckily there are some pretty bad/mediocre offenses on this schedule.

I never have high expectations for a first year head coach, so I wouldn't be disappointed at all with this result. What I do want to see though is smart football, good decision making, and elevating players above their expected production. In losses, I want to see other teams beat the Lions, and not see the Lions beat themselves.

7 wins. Our division added more talent than the Lions did this off season, so, 2 less wins. Darius Slay and a bunch of fucking nobodies on defense

I didn't watch one second of preseason...I hate all preseason sports and it's easy to avoid when you live out of state. Sounds like I made a good decision. Honestly, reading the game threads it doesn't even sound like there was a single highlight in 4 games. I'll watch every single second of every game but I can't remember ever being this nonchalant about any Lions season. Even with a new coach it doesn't seem like we made improvements. It seems like we'll be lucky to record 10-12 sacks this season. I'm not one of the doom and gloomers but I will be pretty shocked if this team can find a way to finish any better than 6-10/7-9.

12-4.
Anything less is injury or refs fucking us

10 is a good floor
