WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY.

Today, another opportunity for readers to discuss the hottest topics in a forum where thoughtful dialog and a variety of opinions are welcomed.

Let?s create some running conversational threads. And for those of you back in actual offices, here?s a question to take with you ? or use via Zoom ? as you talk to your co-workers.

Here is today?s topic??..

Detroit Tigers? PoBO Scott Harris said that there was going to be a focus this year on prioritizing more playing time for the young guys.

Currently, there are 8 positional players and 7 pitchers who qualify.

While playing time is the only way to get a full assessment and offer experience, the Tigers have been struggling so far this year more than expected.

What do you believe is the right amount of playing time to give to the younger members of the roster? Where should the priorities be?

How much playing time should the younger roster members get?

1. Keep it as is currently being done.

2. Give them more time.

3. Give them less time.

I thought they were supposed to be earning their playing time?

Eduardo Rodriguez is first Tiger to toss 8+ scoreless innings with no walks and 10+ K's since Max Scherzer vs. Rockies on June 17, 2012.
Last Tiger before that was Wild Bill Donovan on June 27, 1908.

Sorry if this has been discussed to death, but these rule changes are amazing. I was able to catch both games yesterday. The total of the two games was 4:19. They should have done this 20 years ago.

The Tigers-Guardians doubleheader today had a combined playing time of 4 hours, 13 minutes. According to elias sports, it was the shortest Major League DH where both games lasted at least 9 innings since July 29, 1984 when the Cubs-Mets had a DH that lasted 4 hours, 10 minutes.

New rules bring big changes: Tigers are playing incredibly fast games in 2023.
