this story is ridiculous.
Duke University VP for student affairs, Larry Moneta, (typically a bullshit overpaid position awarded to a buddy of the dean or university president) goes to buy coffee at his usual local coffee shop.
He hears some obscene lyrics in the hip hop playing in the coffee shop and starts bitching at the barista serving him (she happens to be black). she apologizes to him, turns it off, explains it was part of a spotify subscription so they had no control over the selection, and offers to give him a free "vegan muffin" ... his usual.
He angrily insists on paying for it, then leaves and demands the coffee shop fire her (the shop was under contract to Duke U).
The shop fires her, and then apparently to avoid appearing racist, fires a white barista who was working at the time, but not even involved in the incident in any way!
man... Duke sucks...
