"co-DC?" How does that even work? He'll alternate defensive calls with the other "co-DC?" Who would agree to sharing the responsibilities of the defense? And they found TWO people who are willing?
 
Pretty much, co-DC, is just an honorary title. I suspect Macdonald will be the main DC.

seems like the intent of naming someone "co-head coach" or "associate head coach" would be to designate additional responsibilities on the staff, or a temporary successor in the event the HC is incapacitated.

I imagine there's an element or placating the egos of some of these overpaid meatheads as well.

but it seems to me like it might simply lend itself to more dysfunction and confusion... more "dotted lines" between individuals and a less clear "chain of command" in the heat of the moment.

Like if the DC calls a zone blitz, and the CO-DC, who is also the DB coach called for man coverage and a corner blitz does everyone on the field know who to look at for the call? And if there's blown coverage, do they have a reasonably clear way to go back an figure out why?

These kind of things didn't seem to be a consistent problem prior to 2007, when we had a HC, an OC, and a DC, and position coaches under them. Why not go back to that?

Never heard of this guy. Hopefully these assholes start calling kids in the transfer portal and start building a DLine and Def. backfield. Actually just build a whole fucking defense.
