The Tiger announced a series of medical updates, including that right-hander Michael Lorenzen is scheduled to make a rehab start Triple-A today. Lorenzen did indeed make that start, going 2 1/3 innings (56 pitches) and giving up four earned runs. Lorenzen is returning from a left groin strain. The team also announced that right-hander Beau Brieske continues to receive further medical evaluation on his right upper arm discomfort. Meanwhile, starter Casey Mize is playing catch three times a week and Tarik Skubal is playing catch six times weekly.

There is so much to discuss about the Detroit Tigers now that 9 games have been played. Unfortunately, none of it is good.

I do want to see 1 more series before we start analyzing this team in earnest. It is very early in the season and it?s folly to start making proclamations with such a small sample size. Especially when the Tampa Bay Rays, their first competitor, are 9-0 and the other 2 franchises are considered to be much stronger teams. This all has the potential to skew the outlook. The results of that 4th series will be much more telling.

Today, let?s ease back into a week that follows several back-to-back holidays by returning to the Tigers? home opener.

In addition to watching the game, I was looking for other things. Clues about this organization. Changes between old and new regimes. Crowds reactions. Fun facts.
