Jarrod Dyson: O's almost out of fight

What's with everyone rooting against KC? Their fans aren't assholes like Cleveland or Chicago, they would make the Central look alright, not a huge spender, don't have known roiders like Cruz or Davis. Go Royals!

It's mostly an insult to injury thing, tigers and tiger fans been hungry so hungry for so long, if KC were to slip in there and accomplish what the tigers haven't been able to in thier first op back into the post season in years with the reality that the tigers won the div over them and took the season head to head hands down it would just be a real kick in the nuts for me, maybe some feel the same others don't idk

Yeah, it would be a real gut-punch to me for them to have their 2006 but actually win the WS when we've failed directly twice and failed to reach 3 other times in our 5 playoff appearances since 2006 (inclusive.) Especially with that team and that manager. They often play stupid baseball, and it drives me insane that theyre winning.

Makes me want the Royals and Dyson to win even more. But the comments themselves are of minor significance.

You actually care?

Damn, and I felt guilty for watching even a single Dodger game on television after the Tigers were eliminated.

Well the Royals are up 3 games to zip and haven't even lost a single stinking game in the post season yet!

Guess they'll be going to the WS.

Apparently to some degree. If only to cap the irony of this stupid Tigers baseball season, the worst in my 50 years of following the team.

were you in a coma during the early 2000's?

Like 2006 in reverse, misses division title and gets in as a WC and smokes the competition to get to the WS. Now if they lose 4-1 to the Cardinals then it'd be an exact replica. Exact reverse replica.

Freaking post season just keeps getting worse and worse and worse for me...

I interpreted byco's "worst" in this as meaning most disappointing in terms of expectations.

Nobody expected those early 2000s team to be much better than they were

Bring 2006 back..that was my favorite season. Even more so than '84. Just because that was a no-brainer from the get go. But '06 was a total surprise..it was awesome.

No, but those teams were indelibly inept. No hope for anything but playing a 162-game schedule. This team, in the attempt to better it, was willfully deconstructed and then woefully mismanaged. That's a first in the history of the entire organization.

This team wasn't deconstructed and then mismanaged...it was never properly constructed to be a winner.

I don't believe that.

We had the tools. The moves that were made by both managing and front office are what hurt us.

Kansas City is not a better team than us, and they were not "constructed" to be a winner either, they just got hot at the right time. The same can be said for the 2012 Giants, and the 2006 Cardinals.

I know your argument is that paying a lot for a handful of stars is what's killing us, but it's not. Fact is we could have gotten hot in the playoffs and been in the same position as KC is now. And we have been.

I respectfully disagree. From top to bottom KC is probably the better team. The Tigers had no bull pen, bad defense, back up SS playing every day, back up CF playing every day, a rookie 3B that can't field and no bench. I'm not going to say that the Royals aren't hot, because they are. They are winning with their defense, pitching and their bull pen and that is the way they were put together. The Tigers were put together with 3 "stud starters", 2 stud hitters and a bunch of band aids.
