Tigers vs. mets 8-07-16 Game 111

Why? Cause he had a couple bad innings? All pitchers have a couple rough spots over the course of a full season.

I'm just a Worried. But he has not been sharp since two outs last night. I am worried I hope your right.

Terrible at bat from iggy to end it.. Hopefully Cleveland hangs on to lose today as well

3rd baseman was nearly back to the outfield grass!! Iggy should have put a bunt down. Awful at bat.

Oh well, won another series. I'll take 2 out of 3 anytime.

Dirty Sanchez has looked like he's maybe figured something out. Been pretty good lately. Could be huge going down the stretch.

Man what a frustrating loss . Poor Sanchez man he deserved the win. :(

Damn you guys are right .. Iggy needed to try and lay a bunt down.there in the 9th.

IG was swinging on the 1st pitch from the time he got into the batters box till the ball hit the catchers glove. You do not swing at a ball like that unless you all ready made your mind up. There was very little see ball, follow ball decide to swing on that 1st pitch. After that 1st swing it was all in the pitcher control!

Tigers get break when McGehee's seeing-eye grounder gets thru.
Mets get break when Dave Clark waved home Martinez, who wasn't looking.

Dave Clark’s flip-flop call in the 8th led to Tigers’ squandered scoring opportunity.

Anibal Sanchez: Eight innings of one-run ball, allowing just four hits and no walks. He struck out 10 and threw 100 pitches, 70 of which were for strikes.

Ian Kinsler: Needing a hit with the bases loaded, Kinsler got an infield single to tie the game in the seventh.

Tigers offense: Granted, they faced Jacob deGrom, but they still managed just five weak hits in six innings. The offense squeaked out one run despite loading the bases in the seventh, their best chance to break the game open to that point.

Francisco Rodriguez: In his third straight game, K-Rod coughed up a poor performance. He had no command and gave up the Mets’ go-ahead two-run homer.

STATS AND INFO:
Anibal Sanchez’s scoreless streak ended in the seventh when he gave up a solo shot to Michael Conforto.
He hadn’t allowed more than one run in his last 15 innings pitched. The last time he went for a stretch like that was June 3-21, 2015 when he allowed one run across 22 2/3 innings.
He gave up one run in the third and then didn’t allow a run in the latter four innings of the June 3 start. He wouldn’t surrender another run until the second inning on June 21.
Sanchez went 7 2/3 innings (six hits) on June 9 and pitched a two-hit shutout on the 15th.
In his last start, Sanchez had made it a point to stay ahead of hitters with first strike counts, and he did that again on Sunday — he had a first strike count to 19 of the 24 batters.

The Tigers finished 7-2 in the homestand despite the loss, and are 14-6 in their last 20 games.

Cameron Maybin said postgame his thumb was still swollen but hopes to play Monday at Seattle. "It's a little annoying," he said of the wait.

To be fair, Pelfrey has been pretty good in July. 6 starts, 2 QS, 4 starts where he gave up 0 or 1 run. He had 2 shitty games and 4 good ones. I will take that every time out of him.

Who's bitching about Sanchez?????? I've seen nothing but people acknowledging that he's done well lately and hoping that he keeps it up.

If you give up 0 or 1 run and don't get a QS what's the point in even starting. Get a starter that can pitch more than 5 innings. 6 1/3 is the most he's pitched all year. That's shit.

Would you rather a starter go 6 innings and give up 3 runs or go 5 innings and give up 1 or less?
