Game Notes

I’m very surprised Aviles is back in the line up already tonight after having to leave the game last night with an apparent sprained wrist. How effective can he possibility be at the plate after that. I don’t get it.

Mike Aviles, who exited last night's game after a scare involving his left wrist, is back. Aviles (.209, .492 OPS) will hit eighth and play left field for Justin Upton, who is the designated hitter.

Victor Martinez, suffering from a bruised knee, has not started in three straight games.

The best thing that could have happened to this team would have been Aviles breaking that wrist last night.

Yup...I didn't want to say it...but thought it for sure.

2 errors last night and left 9 fucking runners on base the game before.

Romine and aviles can't possibly be the best bench options for this team, it's just sad these two are taking up the spots over at least a half dozen other options on the farm

that would have been play of the year from iggy if they could have completed that DP

Pelfrey off to his typical effectively shitty start and damaged is limited to just 1

Sox helped Peflrey out that inning by swinging at a bunch of pitches out of the zone.

Now don't let that go to your head iggy, keep the same approach.

Pelfrey cracks me up how he barks at himself after he stanks which is often

Avisail didn't get a pitch in the strike zone that strike out sequence. Was it 8 or 9 pitches?

ON JACOBY JONES: The 24-year-old prospect made the jump from Double-A Erie to Triple-A Toledo after 20 games, so the next question becomes how soon he makes his major-league debut.

Al Avila said the hope is the Tigers can hold off on calling up the power-hitting shortstop this season. He's hitting .333 with a home run and four RBIs in Toledo, after hitting .319 with five home runs and 24 RBIs in 29 games at Erie.

"We will do everything that we can to try and avoid doing that," Avila said. "He's actually done great everywhere he'€™s been, so we want that trend to continue. We'€™re hoping really that he's there all year.

"If the need come ups later on in the year ... is it an option? Of course it's an option. Really what'€™s best for this organization and what's best for JaCoby Jones is that he stays there and he helps us in the near future."
