Tigers @ Royals 6-16-2016 Game 66

Victor Martinez is the first Tiger to homer from both sides of the plate in a game since Carlos Guillen on 9/23/09 at Cleveland.

Last time VMart hit 3 bombs in a game? July 16, 2004.

Damn that really sucks to hear about JD, I'll guess he's out till after the all star break, I think ya gotta bring jones up

For anyone else puzzled by Tigers OF J.D. Martinez prognosis -- non-displaced fracture of the radial neck at the right elbow -- the inimitable Stephania Bell, ESPN's injury expert, provides some context on the injury: typically non-surgical, though that may change depending on what the CT scan, scheduled for tomorrow, reveals. Bone usually takes approximately six weeks to heal. Regaining rotation -- and the strength to do this re: throwing and swinging -- is usually the biggest challenge toward making a return. CT scan should provide much more clarity on timetable, however.

Nice to see McCann have a decent day at the plate. Everyone will need to pick up the production with him gone.

Post game guys say news tricking in it will be Moya to get the injury call up

JD Martinez expected to miss 4-6 weeks. He's headed to DL. Steven Moya recalled from Toledo.

Now would be a good time for upton to get super hot

Victor Martinez — 3 DINGERS! His knee either felt fine or bothered him so much he only wanted to jog around the bases.

James McCann — Not only did he homer, but he also made a great throw in the second to catch Lorenzo Cain attempting to steal second.

Royals’ bullpen -- Seven runs came off of relievers. Thanks!

STREAKS AND STATS
Jose Iglesias’ hit streak is up to 14 games. Iglesias is batting .375/.464/.521 since June 1.

Six home runs. The last time the Tigers had that many in a game was June 18, 2006. They did it twice that year.

From BYB:

Moya will be called up, but Ausmus will still use Aviles because he has more experience.

Pumped to wake up to a Tiger's win at 4:30 this morning.

JD out sucks. If Maybin regresses to the Maybin of past and continues to battle injury, and Upton doesn't do what he's getting paid to do, our outfield could be in absolute shambles. Aviles/Romine in OF everyday is garbage, but get ready for it. It's pretty much now or never for Moya.

What a hitter he is. We've been blessed to have some real amazing offensive players in recent years. Miggy, Victor, and Magglio being the best pure hitters, but also guys like Guillen, Sheffield, Pudge, Polanco, Cespedes, JD, and others who were capable of carrying a team for weeks at a time.

Just play Moya verses Rhp and Mike the hacker verses lhp brad you dope.
