6/19 royals/tigers game 69

Jordan Zimmermann ? Retired the final 11 batters he saw to finish the day with an eight-inning, one-run performance. He struck out five, gave up four hits and walked none.

Bullpen ? Justin Wilson threw a scoreless ninth (with a nice pickoff of Jarrod Dyson), Shane Greene a scoreless 10th, Bruce Rondon a scoreless 11th and 12th

Steven Moya ? His 421-foot home run in the third inning was about all the offense the Tigers could muster. He accounted for two of three hits allowed by Royals starter Chris Young and picked up his third hit off Royals reliever Peter Moylan.

STATS AND STREAKS:
Steven Moya hit his first MLB home run. It went 421 feet.
He has 113 minor league homers.

Cameron Maybin was ejected in the 11th for arguing a ball/strike call.

Same old same old.. pitch they don't hit. Hit they don't pitch.. one darn frustrating team.

Tigers' locker room closed-door meeting yesterday.

Post game;
Tigers are calling up RHP Dustin Molleken from the Mud Hens. Who?

So the Tigers call up Casey McGehee, 33-year old and designated Wynton Bernard, 25-year old for assignment on Saturday with a lame excuse, gave him 1 AB, then designate him for a 31-year old relief pitcher who walks almost 6 batters a game.

The Tigers are not dysfunctional. The Tigers are not dysfunctional. The Tigers are not dysfunctional. The Tigers are not dysfunctional. The Tigers are not dysfunctional.

There...maybe if I repeat it enough, some how it will be true.

It gets worse.....

The Tigers purchased Dustin Molleken?s contract from Triple-A Toledo today. To make room for Molleken on the 25- and 40-man rosters, the Tigers designated the contract on infielder Casey McGehee for assignment.
Absolutely assinine.

McGehee, 33, appeared in one game for the Tigers and went 0-for-1. He hit .323 with 17 doubles and 27 RBIs in 66 games for the Mud Hens.

The Tigers also announced they have transferred right-handed pitcher Drew VerHagen to the 60-day disabled list with right shoulder thoracic outlet syndrome.

Casey McGehee has cleared waivers and has been sent back to Toledo.

Good, I am looking to seeing him play this Sunday in Syracuse.
