Tigers 2014 first-rounder Derek Hill to have Tommy John surgery.
Detnews

Now the minor leaguers are getting injured.

Hill will be lost until at least midseason 2017.
Hill, 20, tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his right (throwing) arm early last week on a throw from the outfield during a game between Single A West Michigan and Bowling Green.

HILL OUT: Tigers farmhand Derek Hill — the organization’s first-round pick in 2014 — will miss the remainder of the season and at least half of next season with elbow ligament reconstruction surgery.
Hill suffered the injury earlier in the week with Class A West Michigan on a throw from centerfield.
“It’s unfortunate for Derek,” director of player development Dave Littlefield said. “We have high hopes for him, and he really matured this year. His performance was really improving, and he was committing himself to be more of a professional. This is unfortunate.”

Hasn't shown much of a bat yet, but it seemed like once a week I'd see some amazing defensive play from him on the news. Bummer
