Well this could explain a couple things. Like how you can be so good and next thing, be flat on your face. Like he really did not pitch very good in June.

Figures a big tiger free agent signing would get hurt. Team is freaking snake bit.

I can't believe we're going to have to witness another Sanchez start............

just when they start playing a little better they lose 2 starters.

Zimmermann should lose just 2 starts. There is no guarantees that we would win one, two or none of those starts if he was healthy. And Norris is no great loss. If the offense does it's job, losing starting pitchers through the break will cost maybe 1 win.

sure...they could score 8 runs a game and win out but that isn't likely. No matter how you look at it they will be replacing Zimmerman with Sanchez and Norris with a Mud Hen. That scenario could also tax the pen. It might only cost them 1 win but it could cost much more. We don't and never will know.

According to Tigers manager Brad Ausmus, tests revealed that LHP Daniel Norris suffered a Grade 1 right oblique strain, much less severe than what he sustained last season. He is expected to miss 10 to 14 days.

"We think Norris is a starting pitcher," Ausmus said. "We'd rather have him starting in Toledo than in the bullpen here."

Norris has the pitches to be effective in the pen. He would not be the first to be put in the pen (ala Drew Smyly). Why does this franchise have such a difficulty producing relief pitchers in exactly in this response.

I agree that if Norris is going to help the Tigers this year it is out of the bullpen. Does he have good enough stuff to be a starter? Maybe, but he needs time to develop another pitch and get stretched out. Neither of those are happening this year. He can get guys out from the pen now and help now. I don't see him lasting the rest of the season as a starter this year. I mean he did have cancer removed from his body in the off season so I'm assuming he wasn't 100% going into spring training. No fault of his, I'm not blaming him for that as a disclaimer. But pitching 30 - 40 innings the rest of the year from the pen will be better for his injury IMO.

Well...Zimmerman and JD coming back. These are effectively the Tigers' trade deadline acquisitions.

It's honestly amazing that they've won as many games as they have playing Mike Aviles in the outfield

I'm still trying to figure out if I was dreaming when he had that awesome walk after he fell behind 1-2 a couple games ago. Still, will be happy to see him on the bench again.

Amen to that.

Or in the immortal words of Larry the pitching coach in Bull Durham, "It's a miracle"

The Tigers announced they have activated RHP Jordan Zimmermann from the 15-day disabled list.
