It's not like Ortiz and the Tigers have some special connection. The GS in 2013 not withstanding. That's not a connection anyway. The cult of recognition has jumped the shark. I think it was a gesture to Dombrowski. Or just the mob reaction to other franchises doing the same thing. Whatever...would that the Ilitch's had been as gracious to Sergei Fedorov.

JUSTIN UPTON COMES UP CLUTCH TWICE.
Upton hit a pair of three-run home runs, both coming with two outs, in the Tigers' win on Sunday.
He's the first Detroit player to do that twice in the same game in over 24 years, since Cecil Fielder did it against the Indians on July 31, 1992, per the Elias Sports Bureau.
