Tigers & Twins 8-24-16 Game 126

Maybin was fun to watch at west michigan in 2006 . He lead that team in hitting and to the championship which they won . I went to a few games and took a bunch of pictures of Cameron. My kids went on the field and got his autograph and he was a really nice and polite kid.

With that second double on the night for Miggy he has now moved into sole possession of 50th on the all time doubles leaders board at 518 surpassing Scott rolen

Miguel Cabrera hit career home run No. 436. He's 2 home runs shy of tying Andre Dawson for 43rd in MLB history.

Miguel Cabrera now has 44 4-hit games in his career, tied with Al Oliver, Ivan Rodriguez and Lloyd Waner for 29th in MLB history.

JD Martinez extended his hitting streak to a career-high tying 14 straight games with a RBI single in the 3rd inning.

Justin Upton has recorded multiple hits in 4 straight games, his longest streak since 4/10-4/13/2014.

Matt Boyd tied a career high with 7 strikeouts tonight. It's the 4th time in his career he has struck out 7 in a game, and has allowed 3-or-fewer runs in 8 straight starts and has posted a 2.44 ERA (44.1IP/12ER) over his last 8 starts.

clevleand has 11 of thier next 14 against teams over .500 while tigers only 3 of next 13, now is the time to get that 5.5 made up

Webvideo Highlights of the Tigers 9 - 4 win over the twins.

Miguel Cabrera: It took a video review for one, but Cabrera notched his second three-hit game against the Twins in as many nights actually 4 hits tonight. His homer to dead center in the first inning was an absolute bomb, and he would have had another were it not for the monstrous wall in right-center at Target Field.

Justin Upton: Everything off his bat is a missile right now.

Matt Boyd: Considering how he started the game, a run-of-the-mill quality start was about as good as one could ask for from Boyd. He is still getting bit by the home run ball, but struck out seven in six innings.

Erick Aybar: An 0-for-5 night was going to happen at some point.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia: He went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, but deserves some credit for how he helped Boyd navigate through his outing.

STATS AND REACTIONS:
The double play that Andrew Romine turned in the first inning was easily the biggest play of the game. While the Tigers ultimately scored nine runs in the win, things could have been much different if that first inning snowballed on them.

Boyd settled down in a big way after the double play in the first, and seemed to shake off both solo homers well.

Casey McGehee?s wRC+ was 27 before his single in the eighth.

Better than that the three teams the Tigers are now chasing in the wild Card race play each other a many of times. Baltimore vs Toronto 6,vs Boston 7; Boston vs Toronto 6 That ads up to 19 games that will go 19-19 for those Three teams No mater what some one loses enough for the Tigers to over take one of them should the Tigers do just what Brad said just win games. Believe it or not Tigers could win/go 31-5 should they keep the offence going like the top Six play like they have recently, 10,8,9 Runs are hard to over come. Tigers chances look very good right now. And they still have SEVEN games against the Tribe that puts them within striking range of the DIVISION!

Maybin is a winner. This kid is an absolute fierce competitor, he wants to win and he grinds. Cannot be more impressed with him, he's the type of player you win championships with. His new swing is here to stay and he's going to be an all star here. What a great story.

That's a pretty bold statement based on a 66 game stretch. He has done that sort of thing in the past. Look at May 1-Jul 8 of last year. He hit .318 with a .414 OBP during that stretch (227 ABs) but hit .267 with a .327 OBP for the year.

In his career he has been a .258 hitter with an OBP of .320. That is based on 2620 ABs. He might be a little better than that with the Tigers but over time he will be much closer to his career numbers than what he has been doing over a 66 game stretch (242 ABs)

2016 Maybin

Home = .382 BAVG .449 OBP .466 SLG .915 OPS

Away = .261 BAVG .336 OBP .315 SLG .651 OPS

"Will the real Cam Maybin please stand up!"

Maybin must have figured something out the second half of last sesson.. How can you explain the numbers he has posted this year?

2015 1st Half = .289 BAVG .356 OBP .418 SLG .774 OPS

2015 2nd Half = .240 BAVG .289 OBP .311 SLG .600 OPS

2015 Away = .249 BAVG .295 OBP .351 SLG .646 OPS

2016 Away = .261 BAVG .336 OBP .315 SLG .651 OPS

Hey look, the away numbers are some what consistent.

Last year he was playing great up until the all star break but then the 2nd half he kept dealing with nagging injuries . I had him on my fantasy team for a while and he was doing really well .
