Is Wilson Ramos doing Doug Fister any favors?

Thanks ... not as complicated as I thought. I love this stuff. I'll mine this as well. I think if I was limited to one book (other than The Bible) to retain, it would be Bill James' Historical Baseball Abstract.

http://www.fangraphs.com/ Can generate your own splits for given timeframes. For Example, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 years of data, vs LHP, Away, In certain situations

http://retrosheet.org/ has the individual box scores and other important data, but I stopped using them when Baseball-Reference started adding more.

http://www.thebaseballcube.com/ is good site to track transactions/DL stints.

I also use my own Excel Spreadsheets with formulas to calculate my own version of stats (i.e. Runs Created Per 650 Plate Appearances).

I have been studying and tracking stats for almost 45 years. I used to routinely buy the annual "Who's Who in Baseball" or the annual "Street and Smith Baseball" magazine. The internet pretty much did away with me buying hard copy magazines. Technology, who would have thunk it.

You play fantasy baseball?

Well of course. But I have limited myself to just being in my son's 16 team keeper league.

I won quiet a few ESPN pay leagues in the past. I have played Yahoo and even CBS. There were years win I would have up to 10 teams that I was managing. Old age, sabermetrics and fishing have limited my other free time.

what are the other pitchers numbers with Ramos vs. other catchers?

WSN Team Stats

2014

w/Lobaton 538.6 IP 2.86 ERA 1.14 WHIP 0.53 HR/G

w/Ramos 775.0 IP 3.10 ERA 1.16 WHIP 0.77 HR/G

2015

w/Lobaton 250.6 IP 3.88 ERA 1.32 WHIP 0.72 HR/G

w/Ramos 739.3 IP 3.58 ERA 1.20 WHIP 0.89 HR/G

Pretty much, no other sta.rter is affected to that degree except Gio Gonzalez.

I figured you did, lol. It's a lot of fun. This is my first year playing but I have been contemplating it for years now. I am in 1st in my league, 12 team non keeper on yahoo. Fairly competitive. I enjoy it!

Fister 2014-2015

w/Lobaton catching

109.0 IP 2.06 ERA 0.91 WHIP 2.89 xFIP .215 OPP BAVG 71.3 PA/HR 6.2 SO/BB

w/Ramos catching

152.0 IP 3.73 ERA 1.40 WHIP 4.53 xFIP .296 OPP BAVG 27.3 PA/HR 2.4 SO/BB

Please, if the Tigers do sign Fister, let them get a catcher that he can throw to.

I don't think McCann ever caught him, but did he overlap w/ Holaday here?

w/Avila

Holaday caught just 4 innings. Victor Martinez caught 13.3 inning and Omir Santos caught 14.0 innings.

I will say that Fister, who normally does not walk a lot of batters, had 3 walks in the 4 innings that Holaday caught.

Thanks, I thought there was some overlap, but wasn't sure. Tiny sample size, but terrible results in that sample, so not promising.
