Things to know

? Price's streak (14 1/3) is the longest run of innings without allowing an earned run to start a year in his career. In each of Price's previous seven seasons, he allowed at least one earned run in his first start of the season.

? Samardzija's season hasn't started quite as hot. He had a tough White Sox debut, allowing five earned runs in six innings with three walks and a strikeout vs. Kansas City. He made some improvements in his next start, against Minnesota, striking out six without a walk, but still allowed four earned runs in seven innings.

? The Tigers have stolen 13 bases, the highest total in the American League. The White Sox, meanwhile, have had trouble stopping runners from stealing, throwing out just one of 11 runners on steal attempts. Controlling the running game could be key to the series for Chicago.

Any reason V Mart is sitting?

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Friday that soreness in Victor Martinez's surgically-repaired left knee is the reason for his absence from the lineup.Advice: It was reported earlier that a sore back was keeping Martinez out, but evidently it's the knee that's the culprit. That's not encouraging given that V-Mart has already rested four out of the last five days after feeling a pinch in the knee last Saturday. Ausmus said that Martinez is available to pinch-hit, so it would stand to reason that the club doesn't think he'll be out much longer. Still, it's not great news.

Bottom line. It was bad when he tweaked it and the Tigers suck at diagnosing injuries.

If he needs to stay away from the diamond for two or three weeks to get fully healed, you let him. No reason to trot him out there in the 2nd week of baseball to be a pinch hitter.

Long season there is no freaking reason to rush anyone back from a injury unless its late in the season and your driving for a playoff spot or in the playoffs...

Damn so close.. Miggy misses a homer by 6 inches..

Thought for sure Kinsler would score on that. How does a ball hit off the yellow line and you are still holding up and then the 3rd base coach holds him up.

Cabrera is locked in, looks completely healthy and like the MVP.

He's had some monster years, but I think most Tiger fans feel like he hasn't put it completely together to his potential for a full season before. Would love to see him reach his peak season which I think is something like .380, 50 HRs and 165 RBIs.

JD and YC cannot deliver with runners on second and third and 1 out :(

First Fudge muffins of the season..

I think he held just a tad when left-fielder got over there..Cost the team a run.

Darn it all.. Ex-Tiger comes back to bite us.. Went from should of had a lead to behind by a run :(
