Game 28 Tigers vs. athletics May 5, 2017

And what would a decent night be without at least one base running blunder, lettuce cost em a run and leaves miggy stranded on deck. Well shouldn't have counted anyway, sac run stands I'm assuming cuz Oakland already lost a challenge and crew chief declined to order up a review or not reviewable play?

swallowed Up by the night air long out, 8 strong for fulmer

Triple win game tonight. Fulmer wins his 3rd 3-1. Tigers win 1st game of the series, # 15. Team wins 1st game of a 9 game road trip.

NOTABLE:
The Tigers have now beaten the Athletics 1,000 times, the sixth team to accomplish to that feat, according to Oakland's p.r. department. The Athletics were previously located in Kansas City and Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Athletics, like the Tigers, were one of the original American League teams in 1901.

The Athletics have won 920 times in the series.

Fulmer got 17 swings-and-misses on Friday, including eight whiffs on his change-up.

Victor Martinez went 3-for-4, sending a single and a double to the left side of the infield while the Athletics were shifted right. One of the hits was a two-run single in the third that scored the Tigers' first runs.

Adduci is now 12-for-35 (.343) with four doubles and two triples since being selected from Toledo on April 23.

Webvideo Highlights of the Tigers Win over the a's.

Roars:
Michael Fulmer: Tonight was a vintage outing from Fulmer. He attacked the strike zone on the A?s and dared them to hit his fastball, which they were unable to do. On top of being effective, Fulmer was efficient, being the first Detroit starter to finish off the 8th inning in 2017.

Jim Adduci: Chipped in another pair of extra-base hits, including a huge three-run triple to break the game open in the sixth. Adduci is making his case to stick around when JaCoby Jones and J.D. Martinez are healthy.

Victor Martinez: Reached base four times, including a double into the corner and an intentional walk (lol). Those who feared Victor?s days of producing offensively were over (this author included) should now have cause for hope.

Hisses:
James McCann: McCann went 0-4 with three strikeouts. In other news, Oakland had a right-hander on the mound.

Stats and Info:
Adduci has 12 hits on the season. Six have gone for extra bases (four doubles, two triples).

Martinez drew his 61st intentional walk since joining the Tigers in 2011.
That mark is good for 8th in the MLB over that span (trailing Prince Fielder and Cabrera). When you consider that Martinez has spent a significant portion of that span trailed in the lineup by J.D. Martinez, that is an impressive testament to his career in Detroit.

Fulmer lowered his 2017 ERA to 2.77. You can start the All-Star talk now.
Tonight marks Detroit?s first ever win on the West Coast. Don?t look this stat up.

The Tigers just Won.....
their 1,000 game vs. the Athletics. Since 1901, as the Philadelphia Athletics, Kansasa City Athletics, and the Oakland Asshole Athletics.
That?s right, the asshole athletics. I have hated the Oakland Athletics since the days they threw pitches at Tigers heads in 1967 during several brawl series, in 1968 when Lew Krause drilled Kaline and broke his arm, and 1972 when that huge asshole Campy Campeneris threw his bat at
Lerrin Lagrow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2pRNQuKS40
Go Tigers!!

Victor is finally having a game, and Adduci is still getting it done.

I was getting a little pissed at that Aducci at bat. Bases loaded up 2-0 in the count on and you swing at ball 3, 4 and 5. But ball 5 he put into the corner for a base clearing triple.
