Baseball Reference

Almost 20 pitches after Verlander had 2 outs, now with 39 after 2.

Verlander pitching trout inside after 2 out, nicks him on the elbow, and now a delayed steal of second,
JV getting squeezed on the outside corner by fuck face home plate ump marty foster, now another walk,
wtf with all the walks by JV this year. finally k's calhoun with pitch 58. About half of his pitches have come the last 2 innings after he had 2 outs.

This hp ump is squeezing both teams, now Nick barely checks a swing and that cunt 1b ump mike winters says he went, bat barely moved forward,
Nick grounds out,

Miggy chasing a breaking ball, wtf is up with Miggy, swinging at bad pitches more than ever before,

Victor should have been rung up on a pitch, swings and misses strike 3 anyways,

bad feeling about this game,

5th inning and another 2 out walk by JV, to trout,

McCannon can't throw out trout,

rings up valbuena,

84 pitches for JV after 5 innings,

2 hits for each team, score 2 - 1,

3 caught stealing in 19 attempts for McCannon this year. 16%.

Victor doubles to left center,

all we need are 4 singles to score him.

way low pitch to J_up on a full count andz this f'n pos ump rings him up, clearly low and even angels announcers say it was a ball,
Ausmus finally shows some emotion from the dugout steps,

angels and fuckface ump foster 2 - Tigers 1,

game over the way the Tigers are playing, single by the catcher and hit and run to the hole vacated by shortstop, first and third,

single, 3 - 1,

It seems JV has been a bit wild.. And we must lead the league in HR given up. Should be thankful Sanchez doesn't start.

Several Tigers played like they were going through the motions today and little else,

I don't like what I am seeing with Cabrera.

NOTEABLE:
Mike Trout reached base in all three of his plate appearances against Verlander. He homered, was hit by a pitch and walked.
Entering the game, he was just 1-for-15 in his career against Verlander.

Trout stole two bases on Sunday, Nos. 149 and 150 in his career. He became only the second player in baseball history to reach 175 home runs and 150 steals before his age 26 season. The other was Alex Rodriguez.
The other three belonged to Cameron Maybin, tying a career high. Ultimately, none had any impact on the score.
The Angels stole five bases, the most the Tigers have allowed in a single game since 2012.

Former Tiger Jefry Marte was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake City by the Angels before Sunday's game.

Verlander, despite not getting hit hard, had trouble with controlling the ball again.
Verlander walked five batters. It was the third time in eight starts this season he walked at least four batters.
Verlander has walked 25 in 48 1/3 innings. In 2016, he walked 57 batters in 227 2/3 innings.
Verlander allowed four runs on five hits. He struck out seven.

Meyer, whom the Tigers saw briefly last year when he pitched for the Twins, gave up a leadoff double to Ian Kinsler and an RBI single to Nick Castellanos in the first inning. He then proceeded to go through the next 19 Tigers hitters without allowing another hit.

Boxscore.

Made momma proud (ROARS):
Fransisco Rodriguez: Pitched a scoreless eighth inning with two strikeouts and a walk allowed.

Shane Greene: Entered in the seventh inning with two on and no one out, facing Mike Trout. He allowed only a sac fly in his inning of work.

Well, mommy still loves you anyway (HISSES):
Verlander and McCann: The Angels were running at will on the Tigers’ battery all afternoon. They stole four bases on the day, two each for Cameron Maybin and Mike Trout. Maybin stole his third base in the eighth inning off K-Rod.

Tigers Offense: Only managed four hits all day.

Stats and Info:
The Tigers allowed five stolen bases to a team for the first time since July 5, 2012. Gearld Laird was the unfortunate catcher for the Tigers that day.

The Tigers are now 1-9 when they fail to hit a home run, 17-9 when they hit at least one.

What's to get pissed off about? Did you not expect them to be a .500 team?

Baseball more than any other sport is a long run game. Can't get caught up in what happens in the day to day. Even the worst teams will play well 40% of the time. The division is up for grabs, it's just a matter of which team makes a run.
