Can we salvage a split in this 4 game series? Frazier isn?t starting. We?d be pissed as hell if Brad sat someone in the midst of back to back multi-homer games.
Verlander is making his second start this season after giving up 3 hits, 2 runs and 2 walks in his debut against the Indians. Verlander is 25-3 with a 2.89 ERA in 33 starts against National League opponents. JV is a career .063 hitter. He?s 2 for 32 with both hits coming last year.
Leake?s only win in his last seven starts came in his last outing in Cincinnati. The right-hander allowed three runs -- two earned -- in six innings of a 6-4 win against Philadelphia on June 8. He has a 3.32 ERA in three starts this month and did not allow more than 3 runs in any of those starts. Leake is 5 for 31 (.161) with the bat in his hands this season. He?s a career .227 hitter and has hit 5 home runs in his Reds career.
Only 4 Tiger batters have ever faced Leake and they are a combined 3 for 16 (.188) against him. JD is 2 for 6.
Miggy has a six-game hitting streak and is 11 for 22 with 12 RBIs in those six games. He has reached base safely in 33 of his past 34 games.
