The long awaited return of JV! Hopefully all goes well and this makes us a better team the rest of the season. Tigers are now 6-1 against the Tribe this year and 13-2 in their last 15 games against them.

Verlander has a 4.42 ERA and a 1.282 WHIP in 254 1/3 innings pitched against the Indians (40 starts). That ERA is the highest for Verlander against any team in the majors that he has faced more than two times. The Indians scored 8 combined runs within the first two innings in Verlander's five starts against them last season. Cleveland hit .301 off him, and Verlander went 0-2 with a 5.68 ERA over the last four. Manager Brad Ausmus said Verlander won't necessarily be on a pitch count, but he won't push Verlander too hard in his first start back either.

Carrasco has lost his last two starts against Detroit, including giving up five runs in 4 1/3 innings of an 8-6 defeat April 26. Carrasco has earned a decision in every start this season.

Miggy is 8 for 21 with a homer against Carrasco. In 7 games this season, Miggy is 17 for 26 with 4 homers and 13 rbi’s against the Indians (no way he sees another pitch to hit this series). Kinsler is 7 for 19 (.368) with 3 doubles. Current members of the Tigers are hitting .337 (28 for 83) with a .908 OPS against Carrasco.

Despite Cleveland's history of success against Verlander, the team's current players haven't had that much against him. Current members of the Indians are hitting .247 (87 for 352) with a .717 OPS against Verlander. Kipnis is 3 for 34 (.088) with 13 strikeouts in his career against Verlander. Yan Gomes is 6 for 16 (.375) with two doubles. Michael Bourn is 12 for 33 (.364) with two home runs, four RBIs, four walks and 10 strikeouts. Santana has hit 5 career homers off of Verlander.

Nesbitt was sent down to Triple A Toledo to make room for JV.

VMart took batting practice and ran bases Saturday, and if he reports no discomfort, he'll fly out tonight and meet the Mud Hens in Pawtucket for Sunday's game. He will then travel with the team to Syracuse for a three-game series.

heading to get some burgers to grill and some beers. Let's hope JV is just the boost that the Tigers need!

Way to ruin JV's comeback soon-to-be Mudhen Hardy. Should be a simple task for him to get weak contact or a K against a lefty but three straight rockets and goodbye lead

f'n bullpen and first pitch swinging vs. a reliever that is having trouble finding the plate.
Some of these guys go from Hero to zero from one at bat to the next.
