Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

June 25 in Tigers and mlb history:

1902: A federal court judge rules that Brooklyn has no claim on C Deacon McGuire, who jumped to Detroit. Two weeks later, another U.S. judge denies jurisdiction to stop Nap Lajoie from playing for Cleveland, thus ending the Phillies' chances of regaining him legally.

1934: Lou Gehrig hits for the cycle for the first time in his career, and the Yankees regain first place from the Tigers, losers 13 - 11 in Philadelphia.

1953 - Signed to a contract with the Detroit Tigers less than a week ago, after graduating from Baltimore Southern high school, 18 year old teen phenom Al Kaline makes his major league debut vs. the Philadelphia Athletics and pitcher Harry Byrd. 22 years later Kaline will have set ML records, and finished in the top 5/10/15/20 in many offensive and defensive career leaderboards. Kaline's throwing arm is considered one of the strongest in history, as well as the most accurate of all time.

1961: Vic Power is the baserunner on first base in the bottom of the 9th, when Chuck Essegian pinch-hits a single. Power, thinking it is a home run, waits to shake hands with Essegian, and is forced out at second base. Detroit and Jim Bunning win 6 - 3.

1962 - The Tigers trade Charlie Maxwell to the White Sox for OF Bob Farley.

1974 Tigers workhorse Mickey Lolich completes his 11th straight start. He?s 9-2 with a 1.98 ERA in 100 IP

1980 - Five Cleveland pitchers issue 14 walks, including five with the bases loaded, in a 13 - 3 loss to Detroit.

1991 - Detroit trades former franchise stalwart pitcher Dan Petry to the Braves.

2002 - For the first time ever, a major league game pits two Dominican Republic born managers against each other, as Luis Pujols of Detroit and Tony Pena of KC match wits. The president of the Dominican Republic is on hand for the game, which is broadcast all over Latin America.

Major League Baseball changes final score to Friday's Tigers-Indians game.

The Indians won the game 7-5, not 7-4 as originally tabulated, after the umpiring crew caught a statistical error made late in the game that was later confirmed by Elias Sports Bureau.

The added run for the Tigers came in the ninth inning when Ian Kinsler scored from second base on the game-ending fly ball to centerfield from Miguel Cabrera.

Cleveland centerfielder Rajai Davis juggled the ball before eventually catching it, but Kinsler and Cameron Maybin, on first base, both thought it was dropped and proceeded to advance.

Maybin was eventually doubled off at first base to end the game, the Tigers' seventh loss to the Indians in as many games this season. Kinsler's run is allowed to count since Cleveland failed to appeal before both teams vacated their respective dugouts.

For those keeping score at home, Cabrera (0 for 5) is credited with a sacrifice fly and RBI, Kinsler a run scored, the run is considered unearned and the Tigers (38-36) left seven runners on base, not eight.

Tigers' Victor Martinez: Tigers going to be cautious with playing time in field
Martinez (knee) hasn't played first base since June 1 and Tigers' manager Brad Ausmus says he is "going to be more cautious with him" to get his slugger through the season, reports the Detroit Free Press.

VMart had been dealing with right knee soreness for almost a month before getting a cortisone shot last week. He's been seeing time at first when he hasn't been the DH, but the reality is that the Tigers play with fire every time they put him in the field. Martinez has had two major surgeries on his left knee and missed time in spring training with a hamstring injury. He has started just five games at first and may not even see time there in interleague play. "I think it will clear up somewhat (in the offseason), but probably for the rest of his career, you're going to have to take it more cautious in terms of playing time," continued Ausmus.

Tigers' Nick Castellanos: On pace for career-best totals across board.
Castellanos approaches the halfway point of the 2016 season on pace for career-high totals across the board.

Many fantasy owners were prepared to hang the bust label on him before the season, but Castellanos has stepped up large in 2016 and delivered the best half-season of his career. He's hitting .296/.330/.511 with 13 home runs, 37 runs and 40 RBI. Castellanos is on pace to bash more than 25 home runs; his previous best is 15.
