Game 141 Tigers vs blue jays Saturday, Sept 09 2017 4:07 pm EST

Looks like the Tigers have shot their wad for this game, go down 1-2-3 in the top 8th.and MLB gameday posts that they are a shitty 4-66 when trailing after 7 innings this season.

bawltista popup an insurance run off Hardy when Kinsler tangled with Nick C...5-2.

Last chance for the Tigers in the 9th.....1-70 for the season when losing. This obviously ain't your father's/grandfather's '68 comeback team.

Lettuce takes a called third to end the almost come back

Tigers need three more wins to avoid a 100 loss season

21 shit shows to go

and two pitches before the end of the game, they say that Romaine has had a great game... certainly not at the plate, 0 for 4 with three strikeouts.

Insurance run on tangleup was the difference....that sucks.

Now the Tigers have to win the rubber game tomorrow afternoon, to avoid two consecutive seasons of series futility vs the bjs.

Where was the left handed pinch hitter for Jones in the 9th?!!!!!!!! I'll be glad when this team gets a manager with his head on his shoulders.

Brad is a dinkus doesn't seem to really try to win lotta times or just doesn't think properly, his logic is flawed

Tigers still have a 3 game home series 9-18 thru 20, vs the a's, that might decide their respective draft positions for next year. Both and the NL Reds are within a game or less of each other for the dubious distinction of having the fourth worst record in MLB this season. The Sox, Giants, and Phillies are each almost assured of being one of the three worst teams by season's end.

js this what kittens are playing for. That's why Jones batted in the 9th. Stop starting Cabrera and Kinsler. Every body roll over and do the back stroke.

New plan best to do less and get nothing.

Miggy's at bat in the 1st inning is all I have watched since his 6 game break and JV traded.
Some thirty odd number of players in the dugout and fuck face assmus doesn't pinch hit for Romine who takes a pitch right down broadway for strike three.

Miguel Cabrera returned from a six-game suspension and hit a two-run home run to left in the first inning for the Detroit Tigers.

The Tigers scored twice in the ninth but failed to bring home the tying run in a 5-4 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon at Rogers Centre.

The loss ensures the Tigers will not have a winning record for the second time in seven years.

Pillar's was one of three fine plays in the outfield.
Detroit left fielder Andrew Romine made a headlong diving catch on Luke Maile's liner in the second,
and Toronto's Jose Bautista stranded a runner at third with a sliding, backhanded catch on Nicholas Castellanos' sinking liner in the sixth.

Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera returned from suspension with a two-run homer off Anderson in the first, his 15th.

Cabrera had sat out the previous six games for his role in a brawl-filled game against the New York Yankees on Aug. 24.

TRAINER'S ROOM
Tigers: OF Mikie Mahtook was scratched from the starting lineup because of a sore left groin.
Detroit reinstated SS Jose Iglesias from the paternity list.

Jeimer Candelario finished 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored and Cabrera was 2-for-4 for the Tigers.
Candelario led off the ninth with a walk and Cabrera followed with single on a ground ball to left.
Nick Castellanos hit a RBI double to right to cut the deficit to 5-3. Castellanos went 2-for-4 and has hit safely in 11 of his past 12 games.
After John Hicks grounded out to the pitcher, James McCann hit a RBI single to left to make it a one-run game. With runners on the corners and one out, JaCoby Jones popped out to second.
Andrew Romine struck out looking and finished 0-for-4 to end the game.

Lefty starter Chad Bell allowed two runs on five hits over 4 2/3 innings for the Tigers. He walked three and struck out five.

Saupold replaced Bell with two on and two out in the fifth. Saupold walked to Justin Smoak to load the bases, but got Morales to ground out to second to escape the jam.

The Blue Jays steadily tore into Chad Bell, Warwick Saupold, Daniel Stumpf, Jeff Ferrell, and Blaine Hardy, rolling up 12 hits, including a pair in the sixth that put Toronto on top, 4-2. A final run in the eighth against Hardy became the game-winner.

The loss went to Tigers reliever Warwick Saupold, who allowed two runs on two hits over just two-thirds of an inning. He entered with two outs in the fifth, but was responsible for Toronto's two runs in the sixth. Saupold also didn't get very much help from left-hander Daniel Stumpf, who retired just one of the three batters he faced in the sixth.

The Tigers finished with eight hits. And that was misleading only in that the Jays did a lot of showing off Saturday, thanks mostly to their outfield defense, which tended to keep Detroit?s offense leashed.

They've been doing it all year because Ausmus is not a smart baseball man. The theory that catchers make the best managers has just been busted.

21 shit shows to go

3 out of 21 is what, 1 out of every 7?

I am completely confident that Tigers will win 3 - even more than three - games before the end of the season.

And when that happens, know what I'm gonna do?

I'm gonna pull this thread up and tell you "See? I told you. I had no doubt whatsoever the Tigers would be able to win 3 or more out of their last 21 games."
