Holaday traded to the rangers

Considering he was gone for nothing, that's good news. I'm sure Toledo appreciates it.

Pretty much a non-move.

Wilson is a 4.5 years older lesser version of Holaday. And I mean lesser version.

Jaye is a 24-yr old AA prospect that only has last year to point to. That was after repeating AA at an advanced age. Jaye wasn't even on the 40-man roster and was just traded for by TEX from CHW in December in another non-move.

Nothin' from nothin' leaves nothin'...

It says the C might be one of the best in framing pitches. If anything, maybe he can teach are young-in's at the ml level how to get better at it.

I doubt highly that Wilson is one of the best (Lucroy, Molina, B. McCann, etc, etc all have way better stats) and that any real conclusions can be made on his pitch framing.

Pitch Framing Runs Against Average

B. Wilson (sample)

2009 = 0.2 (219)
2010 = 2.6 (2445)
2011 = -1.4 (2700)
2012 = 8.4 (4606)
2013 = N/A
2014 = -0.1 (88)
2015 = 2.5 (1318)

A. Avila (sample)

2009 = -0.4 (1488)
2010 = 0.6 (6691)
2011 = 2.2 (10285)
2012 = 5.2 (7987)
2013 = 4.7 (7260)
2014 = -7.0 (8971)
2015 = -5.5 (3081)

Saltalamacchia (sample)

2009 = 2.8 (6381)
2010 = -0.9 (353)
2011 = 17.4 (7729)
2012 = 7.3 (7664)
2013 = -2.9 (8597)
2014 = -24.4 (7627)
2015 = -7.3 (2614)

Holaday (sample

2012 = 0.2 (341)
2013 = -3.2 (785)
2014 = -9.7 (3389)
2015 = -2.6 (1169)

McCann (sample)

2014 = 0.2 (173)
2015 = -15.6 (7937)

Like UZR/150, Pitch Framing RAA can be volatile in small sample sizes and from year to year.

Lucroy
2010 = 23.6 (6061)
2011 = 41.9 (9359)
2012 = 22.9 (6910)
2013 = 29.7 (9445)
2014 = 22.1 (10064)
2015 = 7.3 (6329)

I have no idea just basing it off what I read. It's like finding an unwrapped candy bar in the street rather than in the garbage. That's what this trade is about.

I don't know what kind of analogy that is...either way...I'm not eating the candy!

Didn't he bitch last year when they didn't bring him North? Good,don't have to listen to it this year.

The spin doctors had to find some positive in this trade. Arguably, Holaday is the better hitter than Wilson and that isn't saying much. Holaday is probably the better game caller/plate blocker than Holaday. Wilson might be a better pitch framer, but the sample size is all relative. But to say he is one of the best without proof is asinine. His metrics on pitch framing isn't even close to be at the elite level.

Games Started and Innings Caught at the MLB lever last 2 seasons:

Holaday = 57 Games Started and 533.3 Innings

Wilson = 42 Games Started and 383.3 Innings

We aren't talking about a lot of PT for the "3rd string catcher", who will only see action if McCann or Salty gets injured or fails miserably.

Jaye is a one pitch pitcher who had to repeat AA at an advanced age. Last year was arguably a "fluke", based on all the previous years. That is based on still not developing a secondary pitch of any quality.

Finally, Rob Rogacki is one of the "homerest" [sic] Tiger writers there is. I laugh constantly at his articles, which are actually "blogs". The Tigers could trade for a POS and he would find something positive about it. He constantly over-hypes players and their abilities. I am not against being positive about most players, but you have to add some realistic appraisals along with some hype.

At one point, the Tigers would have asked for catcher Brett Nicholas and more for Holaday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News tweets. However, the Rangers were able to acquire Holaday while hanging on to Nicholas. Instead, they parted only with right-hander Myles Jaye and catcher Bobby Wilson. Meanwhile, Detroit plans on slotting the newly-acquired Jaye in their Double-A rotation, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports tweets. In the long term, he says, the club believes that Jaye can be a major league reliever.

Inge can catch might as well bring him out of retirement before he's eligible for the Hall of Fame vote lol !!

Or has it been 5 years already because it feels like just the other day he was in the lineup
