Granted the UN is currently = Bull Tits; however, there is always hope that in the future some sort of usefulness may come from them. Maybe that won't happen until after WWIII, but there is some hope. This current iteration, useless as it is, still remain more useful than the League of Nations....so maybe the next version will actually work.

That will likely face many problems though, as they would likely be more akin to a World Government, which many are very much against.

Although the water cure mentioned in this book actually sounds worse than water boarding, I am amazed at how little we've changed since 1902. Well, we've certainly changed; I guess it would be better to say it's amazing how we can slip so badly and repeat our past mistakes.

These guys are likely being held in Syria which would mean a SEAL Team going in. Like when they took out OBL, they could take out the terrorists and have zero casualties themselves. Pretty sure the stated target has always been terrorists, and in this specific situation ISIS. When did anyone ever advocate attacking and killing "anyone". If that was the case, you would be on that list, but you are not because we are not like ISIS, we actually believe you have the right to voice your opinion, regardless of the degree we disagree with it.

we're fighting an ideology, it's hard to pinpoint obviously. this is what happens when we try to install a secular democracy in nations that have deep tribal affiliations and have no desire for collaborative government. All of these Sunni's and baathist were left out of the new government structure and joined this movement. there are more civil wars going on there than you could imagine, you'll never have peace there unless there is some kind of power sharing.

Did you know something like 18 of the 20 9/11 hijackers were Saudi Arabian citizens? And there was an awful lot of "dark money" funneled from the peninsula into Al Qaeda's coffers.

the Saudi government & royal family aren't exactly very nice people either. they would probably just assume spit on all of us American peasants as befriend us.

Might seem too idealistic for some of y'all, but in the long term, I think Iran legalizing high speed internet yesterday (in defiance of an Ayatollah) is going to do more to combat ISIS-like organizations than whatever our response is here.
