Yup, as fate would have it, it's Zimmermann facing his former team for the first time since getting a big contract with Detroit against Scherzer facing his former team for the first time since getting a big contract with Washington. Things finally broke for the Tigers on Tuesday, as Detroit snapped its seven-game losing streak with a 5-4 win. ... Following a review by Major League Baseball, the error charged to Adrian Beltre on a ball hit by McCann in the sixth inning of Sunday's game has been taken away and has been ruled a failed fielder's choice. ... Outfielder Cameron Maybin continued his injury-rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, starting at designated hitter and going 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. In 12 games with the Mud Hens, Maybin is hitting .222 with nine runs, five doubles, one home run and six RBIs. He has been sidelined since March 25 with a left wrist fracture and sore shoulder. ...

Bryce Harper is in the lineup while appealing his one-game suspension following his ejection and antics in Monday's win over the Tigers.

Personally i'm not a fan of days off if a guy is off the chain. No better way to cool someone off than to sit him. I would have given Miggy another night off given his slight knee jam in the first game, but whatever. JD and Auto K still in the wrong order spots Brad.. Only reason even half way exited for this one is the pitching match up.

Survivor starts at 8

Max makes quick work of the tigers in his first, Miggy chewed up and spit out on three pitches wasn't even close

Zimmerman getting knocked around in the first 1-0 already getting behind everyone....gets out of it without further damage with a double play ball...I don't see the tigers getting many runs if any tonight hope that's all he gives up

Max with 5k's already after 2, tiger hitters looking completely over matched

Iggy hacks at a first pitch ball way up and in and somehow gets it out in left for his first home run on the year

1-1

Kinsler hit by pitch but in self defense went to far and called out on strikes, that rule should be changed

8k's for max after 3, I think the single game 9 inning record of 20 is in jeopardy tonight with all these hackers in the tigers lineup

The Tigers are what Max needs to improve his strikeout ratio. 8 of the first 9 outs have been Ks, including the last 8. The only other out was Kinsler's foul to 1B.

Amazing how many close pitches the Nationals take as compared to the tigers

Miggy complelty dominated 6 pitches 6 strikes owned six ways to Sunday

Tigers need to step out more they are letting max work too quickly

The other day when watching one of the Royals games. There announcers made a commit that the Tigers have to make it happen in the batter's box. We all know how they run the bases. So there could be some thing to there approach hey we got to hit it.

Victory! he didn't k the side in the 5th

11 k's through 5..
