Cameron Maybin Traded to the Tigers

But we only pay maybin for 1, two years at the most. What average mlb CF are you going to get for less than $15 million for two years of service? Doubt there is any. Also Rajai WAR for three years before signing with Tigers: .8. Maybin(not including 2013 cause he only played 14 games): 3.4. Maybin is an upgrade from rajai for the same cost. I say the Tigers win this trade any way you slice it.

He costs at least $6.5 Mil if he only plays 1 year. $14.5 Mil if he plays 2.

Nope, I would rather pay Davis that money over Maybin and I am not in favor of having Davis either.

Didn't realize Gabe Speier was in the deal. Just makes it works.

Maybin blows. Rather have seen that money go towards a pitcher. Makes no sense at all. Crappy contract, crappy player. Braves are laughing all the way to the bank. Krohl wax crap but he was a lefty and only 24. Never know, maybe a real pitching coach can get him on track. No nothing about Spiers other than if the Braves like him, he must have some upside. Avila just made this teams financial situation worse.

I love this quote "He's coming off a solid rebound season where he batted .267/.327/.370 with 10 home runs, 59 RBI, and 23 stolen bases over 141 games."

If that's a solid rebound season, lol.

You're probably making a longer commitment with Davis. Davis is a speed player who is also on the wrong side of 30. Maybin at least has a couple of serviceable year in him barring injury. It wasnt long ago that he put up a 4 War season with the Padres of all teams, Rajai doesnt even sniff that on a good year. Injuries pretty much killed his stats, he is not as bad as the numbers say.

What 3 year period do you want to use? The one where he doesn't suck? I guess we can go all the way back prior to us trading him for Miggy and look at his minor league stats.

Look at 2011-2015, minus 2013 because that is clearly an outlier. The guy can be a 2 win player with the upside of a 4 win player. Seeing that the typical team pays about $5-10 mill per win, I say the tigers fill a hole of the 4th OF/platoon cf for a reasonable cost with the chance it being a steal. You ragged on me for saying Kinsler would be a great addition to this team, and now he is the best 2b we had since Polanco. Could be same story here.

Also...in a couple of years Gabe Speier will be in someone's pen. Great stats. Fastball at 95 MPH for a lefty is real good. And Speier is just 20 years old.

Don't worry, we trade and sign free agents to fill the pen.

Maybin is worse of a player than Anthony Gose. How on earth is that average?

AVG MLB CF .254 BAVG .316 OBP .389 SLG .705 OPS

Gose.230 BAVG .297 OBP .336 SLG .634 OPS

How is this kid's splits vs. rhp?

and are the Defensive runs saved any better?

Unless those stats are better, this deal blows dead goats, and so does the front office.

Cameron Maybin is just a rajai replacement. He could match rajai's production and possibly exceed it since he is still in his prime.

Austin Jackson is just 2 months older than Maybin. Would you make all the same arguments for Jackson that you are making for Maybin? Jackson is clearly the better player and clearly has had the better career. Jackson has had 2 more seasons of WAR above 4, if you like WAR.

Side note. I detest Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) as a stat for outfielders. One of it's components is HR Saving Catches. How does a LFer in BOS even get a fair chance? Or the 40 foot wall in Center in Arizona? And I am sure that 3 foot wall in Yankee Stadium means more HR saving catches. It might be a useful stat for infielders, but is terrible for outfielders.

We got Maybin to platoon with Gose and/or Collins, right? Doesn't he then need to be able to hit lefty's?

Don't like this at all.
Krol probably wouldn't have gotten it together, but he did have some good stuff when it was working.
Speier has a future in MLB.

Maybin is a lazy pick up, an ex-Tigers' prospect, so AA and the guys know him, but he hasn't panned out. Whoever gave him his contract was insane, $8mil this year 9/mil next year, unless the Braves are sending money next year, I hate it.

Don't like it at all.

8 years in and I am suppose to get excited about a guy who bats
.253/ .315/.368/.683. No thanks. Plus Now I worry That Al thinks I guy coming off of
a.267/.327/.370 /.697 season has somehow turned his career around :/
WTF AA..

What a joke! Maybin sucks. Probably better off just bringing up some kid from the minors. Avila is DD jr.

Those are bad numbers against LHP. And not even close to Davis.
