Tigers @ Braves 9-30-16 Game #159

One of those seasons where all of a sudden you look up, and Miggy is.....
5th in AL in AVG (.315)
6th in AL in RBI (108)
t7th in AL in HR (38)

And that's just how good Miggy is...you look at that and think it's just an average year for him.

I remember Lynn henning saying that the days of Miggy being a 30 hr guy were likely done

So the advanced metrics guys are all about Trout for MVP. I looked at his stats vs. Miggy, and his WAR is more than double (10.5 vs. 4.7). Looking closer, Trout's OBP is .441 vs. .389 for Miggy, leading to a whopping 34 more runs scored. So I guess the WAR number makes sense, but to me it still comes down to performing for a team in contention, delivering under pressure. Miggy does that year after year.

A few Daniel Norris jokes
-
Daniel Norris can put out a fire with a gallon of gasoline.
--
Daniel Norris can speak French... In Russian.

--
Daniel Norris once climbed Mt. Everest in 15 minutes, 14 of which he was building a snowman at the bottom.
--
Once, a poisonous snake bit Daniel Norris. Five days later, the snake gave up and died.

No doubt about it, he is the best hitter any of us will ever see in our lifetime.

Yeah, this years numbers are average for him compared to what he has done.
Take a look as Miggy's 162 game average.

Rod and Mario were talking a little about this subject in the very beginning of the game. He's basically a victim of his own success. He has those type of numbers but his name doesn't seem to be anywhere near an mvp conversation. And that's because everyone knows he's just been average if you judge him by his own standards.

Shit, Bautista just took Porcello yard. 3-1 Blue Jays. Damnit

So this is what happens when you have to rely on the Yankees and Red Sox for help. Figures.

If we have another shit bench next year they should consider pinch hitting with Norris once in a while. He can even draw walks. He's one of the very few pitchers who actually looks comfortable in a batters box. Most look like scared 7 year olds.
