Detroit Tigers announce spring broadcast schedule; six games slated for Fox Sports Detroit.
Mlive

The schedule for Tigers games on Fox Sports Detroit is:

? March 2: vs. New York Yankees (at Tampa)
? March 8: vs. Tampa Bay Rays (at Lakeland)
? March 15: vs. Atlanta Braves (at Lakeland)
? March 17: vs. St. Louis Cardinals (at Lakeland)
? March 18: vs. St. Louis Cardinals (at Jupiter)
? March 31: vs. New York Yankees (at Lakeland)

I wish they played division games at the start of the season, end of the season, after the all-star break .. Opening and closing a season vs a NL is dumb, imo.

Opening @ Miami couldn't be a better place to start. Miami in April >>> Detroit in April

Miami in April means not as exciting in April. Imagine a game in KC on opening day, jacked up. I'm talking jacked up.

And at season's end, maybe we're in the hunt - bam, we play Atlanta. Makes no sense. I understand with 15 teams in each league it happens but it sucks.

They play KC 19 times regardless...when they play doesn't matter to me. As far as Miami...I was mostly talking about the weather. I'm sure every single Tiger player would rather open in Miami vs. any team up north! JV pitching in his first start in 80 degrees is also better than him pitching in cold weather. IMO Miami is the perfect place to start the season...a short trip from Lakeland too.

And about finishing in Georgia?

I still remember 1987. 3.5 back at weeks start, 1 game back by the weekend playing the front runner the Toronto Blue Jays. We swept them including a 1-0 complete game clinching final where Frank Tanana was awesome.

Won't get that facing Atlanta.

you had to go back to 1987 to find that scenario. That was great but times are changing. Somebody has to end the season playing a NL team. It looks like it is the Tigers' turn.

I went back there because it's awesome. There are other instances. The best thing MLB can do is add two more teams and get rid if inter-league ..

Yes times are changing, some not for the best.

I agree some are not for the best.

I think it would be a mistake to add two teams. The product is already watered down enough. I don't think there is enough talent to support two more teams.

In 2013 when we were truly a playoff caliber team I was upset they finished the season in Miami. Had there been a race, having to sit your DH is pretty unfortunate amid a race for a post season spot.

Now this year we finish in Atlanta. Not exactly thrilled about it but being upset hinges on 2 fairly unlikley scenarios:

1) our DH being healthy come October
B) even vying for a playoff spot
