Ausmus Out?

About time.. He was in way over his head.. Fire the whole staff except maybe Joyner..And that is a big maybe as we are approaching 60 games where we scored two or less..

This... though I'd be open to Vizquel and Joyner sticking on if the new manager wanted them here. Ausmus has lost us quite a few games with bad decision making. I can't recall a single instance where the inverse is true. I didn't like the hire when it was made, particularly because he had zero prior experience. That inexperience has shown itself time and time again. Good riddance.

I am sorry, but everyone needs to go. Vizquel sucks as a base running/1st base coach evident by the bad base running this team does. And Joyner has not helped anyone with their batting woes, if anything, he has compounded the problems with certain players.

Let the new guy pick his staff. No holdovers.

Wish we had went after Francona in 2013 instead of keeping Jimmy for another year.

How is any of this news?

Is there anyone who didn't believe he was going to get canned after the season was over?

A good thread to bring this up.

It's news because the Tigers look even worse here. The way they handled DD, and now this?? If they have any decency, fire him now.

If you got 'em, use 'em.

I'm glad they didn't. Then you get an interim who then becomes permanent. Do it all at the end.

they could hire Ronald McDonald, and I'd be happy, just as long as they fire Lamont as well.Half the shit Ausmus was trying came from Lamont whispering in his ear.

Yes...and no. Once they use it and it isn't over turned, they don't have one later. So even if they challenge early, they have to know it is going to be overturned.

Ausmus and the Tigers have used the 3rd least amount of challenges for the year. Only Francona/Indians and Williams/Nats have used less.

It also matters when the challenge was made. 5 of the 9 overturned were in very low leverage situations. Which means they had negligible effect on the game. A prime example was DET was down 5-1 in the bottom of the 8th. 3 outs to go. Cain leads off the bottom with a single and is out trying to turn it into a double. He was originally called safe. DET still loses the game and even though the challenge was overturned, it had no bearing on the game.

High Leverage Challenges vs Overturned (AL Managers only)

Giraldi 11 of 15, 73.3%

Moiltor 14 of 21, 66.7%

McClendon 11 of 18, 61.1%

Ventura 9 of 15, 60.0%

Scioscia 12 of 22, 54.5%

Francona 7 of 13, 53.8%

Hinch 13 of 25, 52.0%

Melvin 9 of 19, 47.4%

Yost 8 of 17, 47.1%

Showalter 5 of 11, 45.5%

Banister 7 of 20, 35.0%

Farrell 7 of 21, 33.3%

Gibbons 5 of 17, 29.4%

K. Cash 6 of 26, 23.1%

Ausmus 2 of 13, 15.4%

High leverage mean they had an impact on the game. Teams have replay in the dugout. They know when to challenge or not. This is an epic fail on Ausmus.

So Girardi challenges 2 more calls than Brad and gets 11 overturned compared to 2 for Brad. NY BIAS!

GM Al Avila: “I spoke to Mr. I today and to Brad and I can reconfirm that our evaluation is ongoing and decision has not been made.”

I'd rather see an interim for the last month vs this guy who everyone and his mother knows is gone. They already don't respect him and don't want to play for him, why not give someone else a chance that maybe the players will listen to?

It doesn't matter at this point anyway, but letting him dangle in the stream is poor business, especially on the heels of the way DD was let go.
