Very sad. My grandmother has dementia and Alzheimer's. I don't know how severe her case is but it looks like she is going for at least one more year in Tennessee.

Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Summitt has been diagnosed with early onset dementia, but plans to continue coaching in her 38th season with the Lady Vols.

"There's not going to be any pity party and I'll make sure of that," she told the Knoxville News Sentinel Monday evening.

Horrible disease. Very sorry to hear that. There are a million diseases out there to worry about, but that's one that really scares me. FYI, if you think your grandma is the type that would want to take a shot at a clinical trial, here's a search website: http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?term=Alzheimer

thanks man, i'll definitely check it out.

Just saw a taped segment of her explaining; when she found out, her plans to continue, asked for privacy regarding the issue, etc. Very sad to hear, but sounds like she's going to keep going full-speed ahead.

This is very sad... My mother had Dementia a year before she passed away and it was very sad... I wish the best for Pat... She is a fighter and a great coach.
