Delmon Young arrested in New York

Once the truth comes out, and it will come out, with several people there who witnessed and heard the alleged anti-semitic words of hate, the Tigers might be inclined to release him, if, after a suspension, that is given by the Tigers org. or from selig's office prior.
mlbnetwork radio said there are parts of a contract that prohibit, and if guilty, gives a club the right to release.

Hey now he had a good post season last year at least when he was able to play. can't say that for 95% of the rest of em.

Every player has good streaks, Delmons came at a time when others were not preforming and it made him look far better than he is.

He's had 1 good season, and that was largely due to the lineup the Twins had that year.

For a #1 overall pick, he has not lived up to his hype. there is a reason the Rays, Twins, and soon to be I would guess, Tigers, dropped him like a hot potato.

That sucks, I figured he'd at least have value as part of a trade package before the deadline, but I bet a suspension from MLB is very likely.

now now gentlemen, if he put up numbers like Cabrera, would we be so hard on him.

How much $$ would we be on the hook for?

They do have drunk and disorderly charges they can file. Because they didn't file those charges I would assume he probably was not legally intoxicated.

In addition, based on what I know about low 30's groups of dudes near times square at 4am in NYC who are tourists, is that they tend to be real toolbags. In all likelihood, it will probably come out that these 4 were harassing the homeless guy who approached them and that Delmon probably took offense to that in some way.

"Young was taken to Roosevelt Hospital to apparently sober up before being questioned by police Friday."

In every article I have read, it mentions Young either being highly intoxicated or the fact the police took him to the hospital to sober up, or both. There has to be some truth to this.

I am not concerned with the actual altercation, as much as the time of day and the fact Young was apparently drinking. The degree of impairment is in question.

I would also point out, unless you weigh under 90 lbs, there is no way 2 drinks under an hour will put you at .08. 2xdrinks in a hour @ 90 lbs = .073 BAC. At 190 = .026

Young's listed weight is 240 lbs. For him to be legally drunk, he would have to have had only 5.5 drinks in an hour to be legally drunk or 7 drinks in 2 hours.

This team as currently constructed just isn't working, Delmon Young is the latest example.

This team has some serious problems don't they?

I've always been against "hate crimes". Sounds akin to "thought crimes." If he hit the guy, charge him with that. Public intoxication? Charge him with that. But "hate"? Lots of Dems from 2001-8 and Repubs from 2009-present could easily be locked up over "hate crimes". And, just what is hate? Like, calling a gay person ... gay? I mean it's too vague.

As much as I find it despicable, I don't see what Delmon did as a crime.

If anything the charge should be assault and battery or drunk and disorderly.

If he called the guy an "asshole", it's a non issue. KKK members can say they hate black and jews, much worse than what Delmon did and not go to jail for it.

But, Delmon has some serious issues, and need to grow the fuck up. Prefferably with another ballclub.

Release his ass. They don't need this crap on the ball club especially struggling the way they are right now.

According to henning, Young's contract can be voided if a hate crime offense did take place.

Because of contract language introduced after the John Rocker affair, Young's contract CAN be voided, if hate-crimes offense occurred.

Don't expect Worth to play much. Leyland is intent on making a starter out of anybody but Santiago and Worth.
