Evan Reed being investigated for sexual assault

Don't know many details, but I'll say this: If she files a civil suit, it's likely her assault claim is bogus. Not to say Reed is not possible of sexual assault, but the jaded part of me thinks it usually has to do with money.

You're probably right. She likely filed the charges to keep her options open.

the jaded side of me thinks these athletes have gotten whatever they have wanted from a very young age. Typically, when I hear this kind of thing, I think more often than not the women are telling the truth.

Which is why I said if she files a civil suit. Athletes may be used to getting what they want, but plenty of people out there looking for an easy payday too.

From what I have read, she thinks she was slipped a mickey in the bar in Royal Oak, yet from there to the casino, then several gaming tables at the casino she was still functional at this point before going up to the room? Honestly it sounds more like she was just hammered than drugged.

Again, consent cannot be accurately given in a incapacitated state, whether from a "mickey" or from alcohol. And it doesn't matter what her state was at the bar or casino, but prior to the commission of the act.

Now, proving any of this is probably going to be the key. Without a BAC from the victim at that moment requires quite a bit of auxiliary evidence, which is hard to gather without "witnesses".

Speaking on behalf of fathers, brothers, uncles and grandfathers of victims of sexual assault victims, the day and age of "getting her drunk first" as to be abolished. If you cannot have her sober, then why would she want you when she is drunk?

As far as we know they were both drinking since the night apparently began in a bar, the fact that "consent" cannot be accurately given when one is impaired does not automatically = sexual assault. Plenty of people have sex while intoxicated without breaking any laws. I don't know exactly what happened, and likely only Evan Reed and the 45 year old woman actually do, but I don't believe in the notion a crime is being committed just because someone got drunk and laid, unless she said no, and he ignored her, or he actually drugged her.

Fact is it's a very serious charge and should not be taken, or given lightly.

According to WDIV, she alleges she woke up unclothed, in bed with the man, at Motor City Casino with "evidence on the bed sheets that she had been assaulted." She then allegedly went to take a shower when the man engaged in forceful sexual conduct with her and told her to leave, according to the report.

I think this claim may hurt her. You wake up naked with a strange man in a hotel room and supposedly see evidence on the bed sheets that you have been sexually assaulted....so you stick around to take a shower???

I'm not defending anybody or pretending I know what happened or how someone should react to something like that....but a lawyer is going to go after that.

Sounds like spit balls were dominant that night

Well that sucks. If Reed is charged he will for sure be placed on reserve, meaning we will be short an arm and less likely to cut ties with Coke.

I want to give Reed the benefit of the doubt and say this is motivated by his status, but if he's actually guilty I hope they hang him by his balls.

Yep.

Innocent until proven guilty

While I agree with this in general, the fact they charged him tells me the tox screen on the victim showed something.

That's really what the case hinged on, the woman saying she believed she was drugged.

But yes, he deserves a fair trial.
