Tigers negotiate and extend Miggy 8 years at under $300M

He will be 33 when his new deal kicks in in 2016. So if you are saying 6-8 then that is still risky in my opinion.

My bad then...I'm including the total length from now. But yeah I think the Tigers will offer him a deal that keeps him here until he's 40. It is very risky. The problem with guys like Miggy is you reward them for what they did and you keep them a Tiger for the rest of their career even though you know the decline is coming. Kinda like what the Lakers with Kobe...even though you know it's most likely a long term mistake.

If he wants more than five let him play out the two years..or trade him. I have some faith that Miggy can perform age 36 and beyond but you never know. I would love to see him chase 3000 as a Tiger..

Fk it give him whatever he wants. I want to see him get 3000 and get into the hall as a Tiger.

Some of you guys are looking at this from past history of contracts and money per and number of years.
There is just so much money coming in for many teams with tv revenues and such.
5 years is not enough. He is going to command alot of money and years.

It will be a rotten shame if this kid of Ilitch's is really running the show and the reason for this cluster fuck of an off season. Miggy would get 8 to 10 years from another team. They have to pony up.

6 years 180 guaranteed with option years. 1 or 2 based on Plate Appearances from previous years and performance bonuses. Ala Ordonez' contract.

I don't see any reason to rush into extending him. He has 2 years left on his contract.

Miguel Cabrera and the #Tigers agree on 7 year 30 million a year deal per report. #GoTigers
This is the third consecutive year that Dombrowski and the Tigers have signed someone to a $200+ million contract.

Three days before Opening Day 2013, #Tigers extended Justin Verlander. Four days before Opening Day 2014, they've extended Miguel Cabrera.
Miguel Cabrera has agreed to an extension with the Tigers for at least seven-years and over $200 million.

This is the only good news to happen so far between game 6 of the ALCS and Opening Day.

We needed a pick-me-up.

Cabrera a Tiger for life.

It's probably what most of us expected. Miggy will enter the HOF as a Tiger. By the time his contract is up, several player's in the league will probably be making 40 million per year.

I'm glad he's here for the haul. A lot of money but what the hell..if anyone is worth it it's him. That brings him to age 40?

Miguel Cabrera & Tigers agree on deal that will pay him just under $300 million over next 10 years. now that's the latest. 7/8/9/10 Miggy is retiring a Tiger and a very rich Tiger.
